1. DORZE BODO VILLAGE
INTERVIEWEES: Chief’s son: Kuru | Chief’s name: Zenebe

🇪🇹FALSE BANANA BREAD: Cut the false banana root, extract the inner skin, and ferment it for up to 8 months. After fermentation, chop and knead it with water. Serve with Dorze spicy pepper sauce. Collect the blood from the cow, chop the meat, and lay it on false banana leaves with local herbs. Enjoy!

🇪🇹CHILI SAUCE: To make the spicy sauce, finely mash small red chilies and combine them with water, ginger, coriander, and black cumin. Then, add bile and mix thoroughly.

🇪🇹KIKIL: In a large pot, chop onions and add turmeric. Next, add meat with bones and let it cook for approximately 1 hour. Finally, incorporate cow butter and additional meat into the pot.

🇪🇹AMICHO: Amicho is an Ethiopian root vegetable. It is the starchy underground “corm” from the root of the Enset plant (false banana). It’s typically treated like a potato, and boiled.

🇪🇹SUSA TATA: In a pot with simmering water, briefly cook the intestines for 5 minutes, then remove and clean them thoroughly. In a large wok, heat cooking oil, add chopped red onion and blood, and mix. Incorporate the intestines and continue stirring until they become crumbly. As a finishing touch, add a bit of melted cow butter.

🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.

If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

I grew up in Ethiopia, but I'm still learning new things about our culture. Thank you for sharing this with respect. It's not just for outsiders, but also for Ethiopians like me who haven't traveled much within our country. Ethiopia is full of different people and traditions. Just a short three-hour drive can show you something new. Thanks for helping us all see and appreciate this.

Hospitality shown in this video was absolutely beautiful. African are some of the most humble, kindest people on the planet. But Sonny is probably one of the most genuine YouTubers out there. That's one person that truly loves culture and loves people no matter where they are from. A beautiful example of what it means to be a human being.

For whatever reason, I love it when you show the women's reactions and especially the smiles from them. So incredibly heartwarming and honest.

🇪🇹I'm Ethiopian and i really want to express my appreciation to this individual for their confidence in trying the food without any hesitation. It's admirable because even Ethiopians are sometimes afraid to try the food you have been eating. Thank you so much.

I think Dorze is my favorite tribe in Ethiopia. Amazing houses, spacious and the houses look strong. Their clothing, weaving skills and i even noticed the wooden forks. They are very crafty.

I just left Ethiopia and spent time with the Dorze! I learned how to make Kocho from Inset/False banana it was a very interesting taste and fascinating how it’s processed. They are excellent weavers. Their elephant shaped houses are something out of a storybook! I really enjoyed my thing with the Dorze! So cool to see you there!

Sonny is such a trooper lol. You know he's not going to like it, he knows he's not going to like it, but he eats it anyway. The look on his face and the flare of his nostrils, you just can't help but feel bad for him, yet chuckle just a little. Lol. This is one of my favorite channels! 💜💜

I see a lot of similarities between Ethiopian and El Salvadorian cuisine. FASCINATING STUFF!

I am Ethiopian and I would not eat some of the things you ate such as uncooked stomach. I would say you are very brave. The dorze people are one of the most friendly with amazing culture in Ethiopia.

Sunny is so genuine and not many ppl who do what he does is as easy and calming, respectful, yet entertaining to watch. Energy speaks loud in that man. Thank you

Ethiopia has 85 different languges and tribes. All of them have different food. But the main one which is eaten everywhere is Injera. We Ethiopians do not try to change ancient tribes. They can live like they have done for 1000s of years. Sonny himself is a different bread. Most people who watch this would never do what he does. Maximum respect to the gentleman!
