Try Marston Moor, near York. It's another Civil War battlefield, and locals will not cross the battlefield at night. There are many documented reports of paranormal activity.

There's a Roman army going round in one street in my city too, though some say it's an army from the English Civil War. I haven't seen them but one evening I was walking past the street when this dude came out of it and he was just about jumping out of his skin with fear and terror! That was 20 years ago, I always wondered what he had seen... or experienced...

I've heard stories that people have been driving down roads next to Edgehill and have seen ghostly soldiers hiding in bushes and helping each other walk away from the battle on side of the road.

Marston Moor 1644 is another battle that has ghostly residue!

Years ago I read a 'ghost' story of a man who was working in the basement of a London museum. He suddenly became aware of a the sound of marching feet coming towards him. He stopped and suddenly saw groups of Roman soldiers marching in front of him from one side of the room to another. The thing that really surprised him was the fact he could only see their figures from the knees up. Later discussion with other staff had them admitting that they also had seen and heard the soldiers. One of the professors of the museum pointed out that the original Roman road was about 1.5 feet below the floor of the museum basement. Therefore they were marching on the original road not to the current road level. BTW Edison believed that this type of hauntings were caused by lightning flashing above the battlefields and literally 'taking photographs' of the battle and then showing the film over and over again.

I remember reading years ago about a house in York where the basement had been turned into an office I think (architect or something) and they were shocked by a unit of Roman infantry walking through one wall and in to the other cut off at knee height. After some research they discovered a Roman road under the basement floor following the line of matching men.

We have the same thing here in the US with our War Between the States. Especially in the Gettysburg area battlefields. We see ghostly rows of Confederate soldiers over in one ridge line. It’s actually kinda famous for people seeing them. Especially when you fire off a blank of an old weapon. It’s a trigger object and it will bring them out.

There are often occurrences of the same kind of sightings in Gettysburg, PA. from the battle there during the Civil War. However, I don't think they were as vivid and prolonged. I've been there, but never experienced anything. 👻

I studied and qualified in Parapsychology a few years ago. The battle of Edgehill was discussed as to why the images of the soldiers appeared in the sky . Its believed the battle of Edgehill sightings enacted in the sky was because of the intensity of the magnetic fields in different cloud systems. The magnetic field in clouds could be interacting with the magnetic field of earth . ( There is a strong magnetic field in water ) As the psychic investigator Tom Lethbridge observed, images could get trapped in the magnetic field, and such fields could well be strongest in damp weather.
