I just tried this and I'm loving it! If you don't use open can and it's locked, I highly doubt an accident can happen. When I used open can I instantly spilt some so yeah, using open one is a bad idea.

I believe the physics behind this can be explained by Pascal’s law. To put it simply, creating high pressure by moving the trapped air under a can to skin, from that of a higher volume area (starting position before rotating the can), to that of a lower volume area (middle of the hand). This creates a pressure change which creates suction from the can to your hand.
