I think the keypad will still be unlocked at least on the older versions

If I'm going a way for a few days or more, I just shut the power off to my openers. The outlets for them are wired into a switch by my entry door.
I don't have 'smart' openers, if power is off for awhile do smart openers retain their settings?

No to Chamberlain and their proprietary smart home protocol. Who wants to pay $45 per year when you can have it for free? No feature can make up for this.
