What if over time Supercharging would become free for Tesla vehicles and cars from other manufacturers would have to pay for it? Just a thought.

I hope they add more charging stations if they plan on opening to more EVs. I’ve already had to wait for other Tesla’s, imagine now 😅

In Europe all Tesla’s with their CCS plugs can charge at any charger network stations available with no kickbacks from other companies. So, why not the other way around ?

Don’t know how I feel about Tesla opening up to other EVs. I understand the vision… I envision Tesla charging premium pricing to Non-Tesla owner and hopefully that trickles down to Tesla Owners (Me) to get free supercharging since the 3 and Y don’t get it at the moment.

Opening charging to other EVs lowers the value of the Tesla as the original cost includes supercharging station network which other manufacturers do not have. The unadvertised value of the network was a chief selling point for me. But now, I can buy a cheaper EV and still get the value without the infrastructure cost.

wireless charching uses more energy and it comes most likly from the fear of running out of battery and have to wait 15 min. at a supercharger on roadtrips. There is no problem with plugging in.

While wireless charging is a fun idea, the problem is that it is very inefficient over any distance. Try to charge your phone through a piece of metal 12" (300mm) away from a wireless phone charger. While that is not a perfect analogy, it still illustrates the problem. The power density transferred will fall off at the square of the distance from the source. Not great for things that need a ride height.

Granted you could do it, but at what losses?

Can imagine how irritated Tesla owners will feel having to wait in line for non-Tesla EVs in supercharging stations..Tesla owners should get some kind of incentive for this imo

Wireless phone chargers use 50% more power to charge your phone when compared to plugging it in, I can't imagine how inefficient a car charger that's 9" from the road surface would be.

In California they are putting in Superchargers everywhere and it isn’t just a couple at each site it is dozens.

I feel like the automatic drive/reverse feature is kind of pointless.

I’ll bet he’s talking about Aptera as their current preproduction has the Tesla charger on it.

I'm scheduled to receive my "baby" :-) in I'm concerned too about having to wait in line too for non-Tesla EVs. :-(
Maybe Tesla will charge more for the use of the SuperChargers by non-Tesla owners? I'm sure Mr. Musk will make MORE $$ otherwise, not sure this idea would have come to fruition.

The two things I value in a supercharger are access to a stall without a queue and a high speed of charging. I am not interested in being compensated for congestion on the Tesla charging network. In Australia, the charging network is already pretty thin.

I would like to see when choosing a charger, the peak hours and the live count of cars waiting to charge.

It will open in Europe first, as the chargers there already use CCS connector.

The concrete charging idea would be great for long stretches between charging stations.

With Elon's tweet, I don't think that means Tesla is working with other OEM's. They talked about making an adapter for other plug types and then connecting directly with the customers, rather than trying to go through the other OEMs.

One thing a lot of Tesla owners forget is that they can use Electrify America, Chargepoint, and EVgo etc. A lot of these chargers don’t see Tesla’s in Texas and across the country. That would reduce congestion for Tesla’s and allow others to also use the network as it opens.

Making suprer chargers open would provide them extra revenue and could charge extra for non tesla EV's which could provide that incentive to still buy a tesla over other brands
