1:02:25 Wants more food to build and army, destroys a Grain Pit which gives him more food while calling it a happiness building.

I am super excited for the game. In my head it's just Total War: Old Testament and that's something I never knew I needed.

12:47 ; It would make more sense for both attackers and defenders to suffer attrition immediately when a settlement is besieged, to simulate the siege on the campaign map. When the defenders run out of supplies, they would suffer additional attrition. You could still wait out the defenders but it would cost you as well.

Seeing something like the siege events from 3K would be neat too.

Food upkeep severely limiting your recruitment and armies was also a "feature" of Troy. The thing is that it basically encouraged you to either go with a bunch of crap stacks and or a few super-elite armies, and discouraged you from building mid-tier units since their upkeep used as much food as elite units, but they were much less effective. Also, this economy pushes you to prioritize food settlements above almost every other type, as long as you have one or two stone and wood settlements to allow you to build and upgrade settlements.

47:30 - Yeah, armor values often don't match what it's correspondent units are wearing at all. Elite Medjay Swordmsen had some 70 base armor (100 total), but all they had on them were their cloth headgear and an eagle-shaped golden chestpiece that barely covered half their torso, leaving lots of vital spots exposed XD.

Refreshing content in the first half of this video Heir! Glad to see Total Peace Pharaoh gameplay from you.😄 Glad to see the khopesh guard are equipped with high-tech cloth armour - much more breathable in the desert.

You know Tausret is the most civilized contender to the throne because she'd rather pay you off than fight you, just like the Romans with the Huns

Interesting gameplay, thanks for showcasing it Heir!

The outposts act as regional defense forces. Very useful if one of your fronts is exposed to an enemy nation (like we saw in the video) as it forces them to chip away at your defenses first in order to take an upgraded settlement because the total amount of troops will outweigh theirs (taking defensive postitions, where the reinforcements come from, the type of troops/defensive buildings present in the regional town).

It's an interesting idea as it adds a whole new dimension to defending lands especially when you can add the option for the Sea People Invasions (exactly like the Chaos Invasions). It also adds pressure to your attacking armies. I like the idea that it could be a logistical, economical, military, or cultural/religious outpost because those were things equally as important during this age.

Btw. They should add customizable units, not units that are reknown but units that have stayed with you that can upgrade. Maybe even some individual unit autonomy and disobeying orders. I don't know, it's hard to cover for the problems with AI in this. That might fit right in with the AI as it is now.

Early access left me kinda divided.

On one hand, it was very well optimized (granted, I don't know if Denuvo was present in that particular build nor how much of an impact that would have), graphics looked amazing, the controls were very solid and the addition of native units that are available for recruitment to all factions with territory in a particular area was very welcomed.

On the other hand, battles were not always fun to fight for several reasons, ranging from unit collision still not working properly at times, with soldiers scattering across the four winds after a charge, some getting behind enemy lines somehow, making disengaging difficult and sometimes almost undoable, which really hurts units that rely on cycle charging to perform optimally. Archers also seem to have very low range compared to other TW titles like Troy. That's especially noticeable during offensive siege battles, in which units such as Medjay Archers need to get so close to the walls that most of their arrows end up being wasted due to poor line of sight to units atop the walls.
UI is also something I have a gripe with, mainly when it comes to building icons. The lack of color coding alongside a very abstract look makes it difficult for players to understand a particular building's purpose off a glance, forcing them to look into every single one frequently.

There's a lot more I could say both in favor and against the game, but I can safely say that the game is certainly enjoyable. I'm not sure if it's worth the price, though.

Ive been playing a lot of Troy in prep for this game. I wasnt originally excited but I am now after early access. Theres tons of unit variety on one hand and good mechanics. Ive grown to love Troy for what it is and it has really fun arcadey battles. The one complaint I have is a lot of the units in this game, deapite the variety, seem like copy pastes and so many units are just shirtless dudes. Troy actually has really cool armored units.

This is a very cool game, it sort of reminds me of Total War Arena, which had a mixed fan approval, but I really enjoyed. Heir, were you ever into Total War Arena? But, regardless, love the videos, so many interesting early war places for Total War to explore… maybe they could do mezzo-America next, Aztecs?

@HeirofCarthage, first things first, you sir, got quite the ugly mug! But we all appreciate said mug (least i do xD ). Got some questions/hints for ya. Why dont you apply any titles to Tausret (you should have at least one or two unlocked with your general stats. Second those garrison buildings, you build em but do not "use" em proper, you have to trade units in (like the WH3 Ogre Camps). Third, where are the "caravans"? You fiddled once with them, since then, theres been no follow up. And Lastly why dont you try and be a bit more strategic, plan your movement and outposts in unison, use them to buff your army on route to enemies (those outposts are power multipliers at a level rarely seen in TW games). Thats all for now, keep it up, really like your content, so have a real nice day!

Heir covers new games well, how they play, what it looks like, how the battles play .Detailed game mechanics who cares, find when it is played by ones self later.

I wish Total War had a "army groups" mechanic: Each army is actually 3 armies which are played wave after wave. So you'd design a skirmish army and use it as long as possible in a battle to inflict damage, then a shock army filled with heavy cav and infantry, and finally a light army with cavalry and stuff to chase down enemy retreating units. Idea being you have to completely pull your army out for the next one to come in. This would allow for players to create larger armies without having them all as separate army entities and adding tedium, and losing an army completely would be devastating.

Well Bender would have agreed, given that beer was a very common beverage among Egyptians. Though I'm surprised the developers didn't implement in some way the fact that the Nile flooding had a huge impact on Egypt prosperity. I can see that players could have been angered by an rng type of mechanic, but still I think it's a miss on the "Egyptian feeling" of the game, so to speak

I feel like outposts being a pain is kinda the point? largely in that you can earn a decent flow of stone just by razing enemy outposts and such.

You didn't give Merneptah any fresh fruit to sweeten the deal you signed with him at 16:45" right? ;)
