F-Zero Climax Speed Run: All Grand Prix Cups beaten with Panzer Emerald

this ship is quite similar to Samurai Goroh's ship. it has the same stats and very close weight. it feels very similar to drive except that it is easier to take corners with it. otherwise it's about the same.

here's some information about this game that explains several things in the run:

- angled driving: the reason it looks like i'm always driving at an angle is because strafing speed from L and R is added to your normal speed and this makes it overall faster. that means i hold one of these buttons most of the time except in few instances were going straight is tricky. it also helps to set up the spin attack to fend off rivals.

- blast turning: the reason i'm mashing the accelerator button a lot is because this is a tech called blast turning and that makes the ships turn much sharper and retain their grip. just like in GPL, the sound they picked for the accelerator can get grating and annoying after a while. unlike the previous games, blast turning isn't as effective alone and you need to hold D-pad Down to help with turning since that makes the ship turn a lot more.

- difficulty setting and tracks: this game retains GPL's mechanic where the tracks themselves vary depending on the difficulty chosen. that means the tracks you play in novice and standard in the first 3 cups (Bronze, Silver and Gold) aren't the same as the ones in expert or master. for this reason i do the first 3 cups in 3 difficulties (Standard, Expert and Master) because technically they contain different tracks. the last cup (Platinum) has the same tracks in all difficulties. also, unlike GPL, they give you continues in Platinum cup now like in all other cups.

this run was recorded using a Nintendo Switch with the NSO Game Boy Advance App. the colors look a little weird compared to playing on Gamecube's Game Boy Player but i think this is how they look on an actual GBA.

Here's some details about the Panzer Emerald from THE Panzer Emerald speedrunner himself.

- Yes, it has the same stats for the majority next to the Fire Stingray, HOWEVER the Panzer Emerald has better speed maintainances in both ground and air. Meaning that it can reach max speed way easier. Try it with the Fire Stingray and you have a worse experience when it comes to reaching max speed with that machine since it loses SO much speed in between boosts, let alone maintaining max speed. Fire Stingray may have a higher top speed than the Panzer Emerald, but that is insignificant when you compare it to the boost laps.

- Panzer Emerald also turns slightly better than the Fire Stingray. Doesn't turn that good with the standard control settings, but the Panzer Emerald has a less miserable time turning than the Fire Stingray. I highly recommend using the Wide Turn and Wide Slide for both these machines. The downside is is that you have to shallow turn the first lap, but when it comes to the 2nd and final lap, you can turn pretty hard WHILE maintaining max speed.

- Panzer Emerald can make jumps similar to what the Dragon Bird can since they have both similar weights. I have done jumps with the Panzer Emerald like I haven't seen it done before, but if you take time to measure the distance it can jump, you will be surprised. So if the Dragon Bird can reach a jump, the Panzer Emerald might get the same results.

- I also believe that the Panzer Emerald accelerates slightly better than the Fire Stingray.
