F-Zero Climax Speed Run: All Grand Prix Cups beaten with Fire Stingray

this ship on the slow side as expected. it has a high non-boosted top speed but it loses quite a bit of speed in turns and it has low acceleration. considering the speed cap is the same for all machines and that the tracks are short, this ship gets the shorte end of the stick since it doesn't get that fast. at least that makes it easier to drive safely.

here's some information about this game that explains several things in the run:

- angled driving: the reason it looks like i'm always driving at an angle is because strafing speed from L and R is added to your normal speed and this makes it overall faster. that means i hold one of these buttons most of the time except in few instances were going straight is tricky. it also helps to set up the spin attack to fend off rivals.

- blast turning: the reason i'm mashing the accelerator button a lot is because this is a tech called blast turning and that makes the ships turn much sharper and retain their grip. just like in GPL, the sound they picked for the accelerator can get grating and annoying after a while. unlike the previous games, blast turning isn't as effective alone and you need to hold D-pad Down to help with turning since that makes the ship turn a lot more.

- difficulty setting and tracks: this game retains GPL's mechanic where the tracks themselves vary depending on the difficulty chosen. that means the tracks you play in novice and standard in the first 3 cups (Bronze, Silver and Gold) aren't the same as the ones in expert or master. for this reason i do the first 3 cups in 3 difficulties (Standard, Expert and Master) because technically they contain different tracks. the last cup (Platinum) has the same tracks in all difficulties. also, unlike GPL, they give you continues in Platinum cup now like in all other cups.

this run was recorded using a Nintendo Switch with the NSO Game Boy Advance App. the colors look a little weird compared to playing on Gamecube's Game Boy Player but i think this is how they look on an actual GBA.

Now that this is on Nintendo switch online I can finally experience this game and the first thing I did was go straight into the track editor xD

Great run! Always love your runs ^^

glad this is on nso so i dont have to fork out 3 digits to an ebay scalper to play it. im still getting used to the blast-turning in this game vs maximum velocity and gp legen cause it feels a bit more stiff in climax. track design is solid though and ill beat all the gps without abusing savestates (too much), f-zero fans finally have a post-renissance era (kinda)!

I've recently picked up the game myself (never played it before) and I'm wondering how you land the jumps without taking damage its the one thing i can't seem to do
