World's largest freshwater fish caught in Cambodia

The world's largest ever freshwater fish has been caught in Cambodia's Mekong River, according to US and Cambodian scientists

The giant stingray measured almost four metres from snout to tail and weighed in at just under 300 kilograms (660 pounds). The previous world record was a 293kg (646lb) Mekong giant catfish, caught in Thailand in 2005.

The stingray was snagged by a local fisherman on the night of 13 June, south of the town of Stung Treng

Actually white sturgeon can reach 1000 lbs and can be found in north america. Several have been caught bigger than the stingray but not recognized by IGFA.
