I'm still using the p10 since release date, I got it first day it dropped. The phone in all honesty is solid in performance, never lags, no slow downs and still runs smooth and fast a year old (and I don't say this likely, when I say it's fast, there is literally no slowdowns with Huawei phones I've owned, my gf has my p9 lite what is around 2 years+ old, and the phone is excellent for a budget midrange) Optimization on the Kirin 960 isn't bad at all, the problems with optimization I see is battery and for heavy gaming it does heat up. For me I don't game so it's not an issue, but using other phones like s7, iphonex, and s8 they heat up the same. The screen quality is good QHD, speakers ok, biometrics is brilliant, fingerprint is fast, and face Unlock is quick too. Firmware updates from Huawei are ridiculously slow in UK, but firmware finder updates are quickest. Lastnight I updated to may security patch which also gave me face Unlock feature. EMUI is quite brilliant in many ways, almost to a point where I don't want to leave EMUI. Gestures and comfortability of EMUI is definitely a plus, and customisability of themes and icons gives a lot more than most other phones. So I agree with you colour, why people hate in EMUI I have no idea. Samsung UI is to be honest, probably the worst UI I've seen on a phone, especially for a top selling brand (my opinion). Definitely pros for Huawei, and definitely some cons, but I can say that p10 is a solid phone even in 2018. Keep in mind it still has another year of updates from Huawei. I'm running Oreo 8.0 with all the bells and whistles of any 8.0 phone.

Hi Volokin, very good review, keep up the good work. I'm about to buy a phone, and I cant decide between Huawei P10 Plus and Huawei Mate 10, the Mate 10 is a little bit expensive (like 60 punds more). I noticed that you have both, which one do you recommend? The more important thing for me is the camera (i'm a photographer) and I will love to have the Leica enginnering on my next phone (currently I have an Iphone 7plus, which due to its size is a little bit uncomfortable to me) . I have been revieweing the cameras, and I found that both phones the Mate10 and the P10 Plus have almost the same back camera, both have 20 and 12 mp sensors. but they have different lens aperture, the Mate 10 have better aperture (f1.6). The selfie camera is not important to me, bith have 8pm sensors, and the aperture on the P10 Plus is better.


Do you think this difference on the apertures is notiecable on the pictures? does this difference worth the extra pounds? I like more the P10 Plus due to its size, which I guess should be more comfortable than the mate 10.

How would I put this without being rude? When the tuber is producing great pro like text and then the sound work is not like not done at all it always makes me wonder what is going on up there?

When sound is recorded thru camera mics it picks all the room echo and intelligibilty of the produced language(being what ever on earth can be) is diminished 50-80%. That is a widely known fact and simple cure is just the use of lapel mic. Term is "Speech transmission index" but there is no need any such science because the cure is so efficient. Lapel mic totally wipes away any sound issues.
Even dedicated sound world tubers like "Produce Like a Pro, Warren Huart" step into that hole sometimes so I take it is just laziness - which we as humans are prone to. But when you really want to be pro then you (any tuber) do the sound work because it adds even more positivities to end result than the video.

I've got the P20 Pro and the themes are rubbish 😔 they don't change anything apart from the lockscreen clock and wallpapers - they don't change the icons in settings etc would have loved to use that s9 theme but it's not there anyway!
