Verizon’s Virtual Network Services is a portfolio of network services delivered in a flexible framework on x86 hardware allowing customers to choose the services, network architecture and delivery models that best suit their needs.
Coming from the need to deliver an identical network service application experience in radically different environments, the Virtual Network Services (VNS) product uses OpenStack components as its underlying platform to create a massively distributed Network as a Service solution.
The product team created two OpenStack environments, one that fit in small footprint and the other that was in a more traditional data center, yet both use the same orchestration tools located in a global cloud.
