This was how I played Minecraft for a while, that was until I started an smp with my friends, who took things very slow. They taught me that I didn’t need perfect gear to have fun, 4 months in and I still have diamond armor, a record for me.

When I make a knew minecraft world, I deliberately take it slow. I load in, get some basic tools, and then wonder around for an hour finding the perfect place to build a base. When I go mining, I don’t go caving, I make a realistic hole in the side of the mountain with wooden pillars as support beams. Instead of a tree farm, I make an orchard, growing them naturally outside. I don’t make villager trading halls, I make my own village for them. It could take me days to get a full set of iron, a week to get to the nether, and 2 months to kill the dragon, 3 to get an elytra, and half a year for a full set of enchanted netherite. But I love it like that. That is my ideal minecraft world. I don’t rush it, I nurture the game and shape it into a world where things do take time. And I love it for that.

The game doesn’t need to be made harder, just longer. I always find myself bored after building my first house, and I’m like, “Now what?” I think that the netherite templates were a step in the right direction. It makes getting netherite gear more time consuming, which makes it more rewarding and valuable to you when you finally get it.

EXACTLY THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING. i cant believe there are so many people calling for certain items or features to be nerfed( villager trading, elytra) when you DONT HAVE TO USE THEM. Its a sandbox game, if you dont like a certain feature, dont use it, and certainly dont try ro get it removed and ruin the experience for many others when you could just solve the problem yourself.

One thing im surprised more people dont do is just play with some self imposed rules to make it harder.

I had a world with some friends where we werent allowed to stay in one place for more than one mc day. Meaning we had to manage our inventories super carefully so we could pack up what we needed and get moving at any time. It was hard but also a fun challenge trying to figure out ways to work around it. And im sure other challenges would be just as challenging and fun, like a no armor challenge for example
