I really miss my copy of The Bachman Books. I do remember finding Rage an unpleasant read but I loved The Long Walk, absolutely terrifying! I am also in the process of reading all of King's work, I have a long way to go.

I have not read this, but now I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. It sounds too "real" in this time in our country. I think the only Bachman I read was The long walk, which I did enjoy.

I haven't read this one yet but I would want to and I think this is best to see more of a character study but idk, as you said that this is his less well written books but I think it's the reason of that this is King's first books he wrote along with the other Bachman books.

Have not read Rage yet and now I'm not sure if I will lol. Maybe someday but I have other King books I would rather read next. Thanks for the review.

I haven't read it yet, but I do got it I did like his Book the Long Walk I did a buddy read with my dad on that book. I am reading the Exorcist right now.

I liked Rage more than you did, for sure, but I think it's because I liked seeing the very young Stephen King becoming the "real" Stephen King. I also like to think of Rage as a sort of test run for the infinitely better Carrie. Hope you're having a great Sunday!

I read this several years ago and didn’t like it all that much. I plan on rereading it though. Just an aside, this book isn’t banned. King let the story fall out of print in 97-98 due to 4 school shootings that happened in the 80’s and 90’s in which each perpetrator had a copy of the book, one of which wrote an essay on it or something like that.

I have the same book and I plan to read Rage soon to see why King wants this story to be erased. The Long Walk is probably my favorite King book, so I look forward to your thoughts!

Lol.... it is a good book. It is a great study of the road to being a horror author. Any time someone uses the word "problematic " you can disregard any analysis he attempts. Reading something from another time, and using the lens of woke today is ridiculous.

I read Rage way back and remember not caring much for it. I think Bachman is hard to get into. I did like The Long Walk and Thinner a lot and I loved Blaze at the time of reading it. I’d have to revisit that one, but pick it up if you don’t have it. Later Creep! 👻 📚

Oh yeah. Rage is NOT a good book. There are a few compelling elements but as a whole it is great.

The Long Walk is absolutely the best in that collection and one of Kings best.

Wow never heard of this book. I’m not a fan of King’s vulgarity in his books. I feel like it doesn’t always have a place and it’s just used to be shocking. I’m not here for it. But I do love some of this books.
