Caspian Report is not that great. They say that the EU membership stopped the dispute. That is false. The Hungarians in Romania enjoy much more cultural and administrative autonomy than the Romanians living in Hungary.

The Wallachian Plain used to be the Wallachian Forest but it was cut down for agriculture.

Nice work mister G, the situation is not that bad in Romania as others commented here, corruption exists in any country, even in US, but Romanians always aren't satisfied with what they gained. The economic situation is now 10-20 times better than in the nineties. The liberty of speach and for bussines is way better than a lot of European countries. About the decrease of population, this is happening part because emigration but also because of mentality and the individuals becoming wheltier. I hope that in the future more families will have 2-3 childrens, and also others will come back from where they left today. The Romanian nation will never die. As an old Romanian saying state, like this: " Horses doesn't die when dogs wants"!

Transilvania wasn't part of Hungary per-se until Hungarians crowned a King from the Corvin line who was also the ruler of Transilvania and the two entities united.
After the end of the Corvin dynasty rule, Transilvania became autonomous again.
After the Ottoman invasion, Hungary was incorporated in the Ottoman empire while Transilvania remained autonomous.
Transilvania was taken by Austrian Hapsburgs who also took Hungary. In the course of the Austrian occupation, both Hungarians and Romanians rebelled against Austrians.
After WWI Hungary claimed Transilvania without any legal basis and attacked the Romanian Army stationed in territories already awarded to Romania after WW1, sparking the Hungarian-Romanian War which lead to the occupation of Budapest and Transilvania re-uniting with Romania.
Although many claim that Transilvania was taken by war from Hungary, that is false. Transilvanians voted to unite with the rest of Romania and even Hungarians voted for this as they were regarded as second class by the Hungarians from Budapest.

Politics in romania is made by West and East, is USA or Russia, no politicians work for good of our country, they get paid by one side or other to serve their interests. There is no side to vote, even after massive protests we put down ones to others comes and do same bad things. Nothing change so ppls left country because politics corruption who give poverty, anger, unfair treatment, I remember in 2009 I couldn't find a job and today we don't have enough workers so they take ppls from Philippine Vietnam Nepal Pakistan India and many more for work
