Nice video! Thanks for posting :)
There's left-hand and righthand waves, but also aframes wh where the wave breaks nicely in two different directions from the peak. You passed the 'hump' of trying to make continual improvement to the point of just wanting to enjoy the sport.
You're hooked 😅

Great video, a few tips especially because you have problems with your first turns:
• keep your shoulders more parallel to the board instead open to the front.
• watch in the direction you want to go
• work on your leg and foot mobility so you can get a better stand on the board.

You already tackled some of these points more or less but there is a lot of potential you can fix pretty quick with those few adjustements.

But also, doing turns on a softtop is way harder than on shorter hard boards. The agility of softtops is pretty bad. But that makes them easier to pop up as a beginner.

Maybe keep those tips in mind for the next time you get in the water. Keep going!

Great video. Surfing is deceptive when you see others doing it well. It is much harder to learn than people think. I have surfed my entire life and it takes a long time to really get good but it is the most rewarding experience I have ever had. You did an amazibg job and learned so much in a very short time. It was nice to see the camp teach you etiquette also. Keep at it and have fun.

I am 66 and just did a dream surf camp at Lombok 2 weeks ago for 8 days. I can relate to your feelings but I shall be there or Khao Lak next. I guess this old dog can still learn a few new tricks, and yes, paddling is the most painful and difficult part too.

This is an excellent video! Keep up the great work. I learnt a lot from this video as a beginner surfer who just finished a week of surfing in Sri Lanka and loved it so much that I’m going to live in Bali for two months and dedicate time to get better while having fun!

Friend your front foot (and back foot too) should be 90 degree to the rail it will help you stabilise and control the board . That is what was holding you back. Good luck

Good video that I will recommend to many people that are thinking about learning to surf. In the video you have one mighty flaw though on your take off: you grab the board on the side to push up, they should be flat under your chest when going into Cobra, the further back under your chest the more angle you create and therefore more space to get your front leg under and up front. When you grab on the side and push up there's an unavoidable unbalance as you push harder on one side than the other. Other than that I am truly impressed by your pop-up and the way you went about practising it. This video is 7 months old now so you probably will have corrected this anyways and are now surfin those mighty overhead waves of Bali.

well done!!! seeing your progress is so inspiring! I've only surfed a few times in Bali & Malaysia so I'm still very much a beginner but boy do I love this sport 🥹 always dreaming about the next surf trip. it's cool to see your development in just 20 days at surf camp! I hope I'll improve just as much on the next trip 🏄🏻🌊

Получилось исчерпывающее видео к вопросу о том, как можно ли научиться серфить за короткий отпуск. Удачи и увидимся на лайнапе 😊

Bend your knees more and upper body straight, then you will have more balance. Your position with the feet on your board is to much on the back, that slows you down. Keep on practicing 🙌

What was the surf camp that you went with? Those waves in that location looks excellent for beginners. Do you have the website for the surf camp? Great honesty in the video, amazing progression so fast.
