Great car, but too low for winter driving

I would not want to invite this guy for a holiday dinner, he'll nag about everything on the dinner table and then some!

Who cares about back up camera or voice commands, I'd rather push buttons my self. I'd buy a tC just because it looks sporty

Im shocked how wrong and false this review was. I don't expect that from CR. We all know its a not a sports car

This review is rubbish. Its a 20k car, not an 80k BMW

With the 6 speed manual this car comes alive, I test drove both auto and manual and they are very different cars. The 2014 suspension and steering upgrades have really improved the sharpness of the handling over the 2013.The high points of the car are: Scion reliability, mpg 28+, sporty good looks, sporty drive/improved handling, + amazing Pioneer HD sound quality and very roomy cargo hold to boot, all for under $19, 999 with the manual transmission. FR-S and Civic Si cost 3-5 thousand more for a minimal amount of speed, handling.

I've got a 2012 TC. Its way better than a pontiac. I've gotten as good as 35 mpg with mine and it has the 6 speed auto. Its good enough for me. I don't need a touch screen radio or backup camera or voice commands. I just don't need them. I want a great sterio which it has, plus reliability. So I'll see how mine turns out in the long run

Really Consumer Reports??? I own one myself and it's one of the best cars I've owned in a while. Before my tC, I owned a 2012 Jetta S and hated it after 3 to 4 months of driving it. All the pros I thought was pros turned out to be cons. Suspension sucked, had hubcaps, no bluetooth, and the list goes on. When I came across my tC, I was in love. It felt like I was cheating on my Jetta and liked it. Now, not all cars are perfect. It heavily depends on what the buyers are looking for. I am one to admit that the tC has its cons, but its pros out weighs them all. In my opinion...

I've owned 3 of these, my last one a 2016, put 200k on it in 5 years. Only a few minor problems.

I have a Scion tc 2013 and admit that the interior is a bit drab, but for 19, 000 what do you expect, great radio, for a small car sits better than most finished 2000 mile trip and no aches and pains. It is not a turbo but has no problem whizzing down the highway, could do with less road noise but it is a small car. Great back seat and room under the hatch. Most back seat room you will find in small car. Did well in snow and ice.

I am shocked the reviewer didn't mention how good listening to NPR sounded on the pioneer system.

I like this guy's review ... it's feels very real like he's telling it how it is .... I don't like the other guy that talks slow. He's very boarding, let this one do the reviews.

For $22 grand... Back up camera should be standard. Toyota still uses a lot of cheap plastic. They need to go back to how they used to build cars. My old Camry was a 97 and had soft touch material all over.

Everyone, including CR, knows the tC is a sporty daily driver, not a true sports car. Kind of a bogus review. I agree about the touch-screen interface -- it is outdated as hell -- but for the price, I don't think consumers can find a more reliable and fun-to-drive daily driver, not at least until they bring back the Celica.

Why is Mister Rogers reviewing a car that is aimed towards a demographic 30 years younger than him? This car is a bargain at it's price point. The same money gets you a Sentra or base Civic. The Scion beats both of those at the 19, 000 dollar price point.

MONOGRAM SERIES!!! leather heated seats, navigation system, keyless entry, rear window wiper, and I'll add the back up rear view camera kit. Awesome! And all for $23, 000!! Too bad this review sucks - Got the base MSRP all wrong, and why are you comparing it to the FRS, it's not a sports car. Nonetheless it REALLY has smooth and quick acceleration, it's already equipped with heated rear windows, so doesn't really need a window wiper, and he totally overlooked the split folding seats which are most convenient. Great car if you love the functionality of hatchbacks, but much sportier looking =)

Not your best review, CR.  The TC is no sports car, nor should it be reviewed as such; it's an every day, economy-type car with a sporty vibe.  It gets average gas milage, and it offers more power than most other cars in its class (again, economy... not sport), so it's a nice balance of both.  It also offers Toyota's stellar reputation for reliability and safety; where is your mention of those important aspects?  I've owned this car for almost six months now and have no complaints.  The hatch allows for great storage space and it is comfortable enough for multi-hour drives on the highway.  I suggest you redo this review from an every day driver's perspective.  It almost seems that you made up your mind before you drove it, solely based upon the car's looks.

I would buy a Scion tC due to its reliability and practicality, not because it has the fanciest transmission and not because it’s the sportiest.
