Very Cool. This gives me a greater understanding on the dynamics of spinnaker wipeouts.

My favorite sail configuration for when the wind is on the quarter is triple slotting. This is a 1.5 ounce spinnaker, a number 3 Jib and a tall boy staysail to clean up the air between the jib and the main. This gives you three slots to work with. This works for all the reason you point out except it looks cooler than just the jib.

Great content, and thanks. Could you tell me how long your spinnaker sheets are and what diameter rope you use? I’m setting up a spinnaker on a 9m tri similar to yours and your arrangement looks good. 👍👍

And the 6th reason is: you cannot wrap the genny around the forestay. I always have the jib up when I sail the genny singlehanded.

Can I ask who made your jib and what fabric is it. I just broke my jib furler on my F-27 and Im thinking about getting a Hank on for the next one. Thanks
Ps Im mostly solo though, whats your thoughts on this ?

Good tips but if you're flying a symmetrical, then the jib has to go if you need to gybe - dip pole or end-to-end

... and the goal is to create more lift a low speed, ... like the biplan plane !, useful up to +- 140 deg.

LOL reason #1.

Minor correction: "Leeward" is pronounced "Looward". Don't ask me why; it's English; English is wierd.
