I like hunting in light rain. I've seen some serious rut activity in the rain.

A study was done in SC and precipitation was the number one factor for deer movement.

I’ve been bow hunting over 40 years and have probably killed more bucks just as a thunder storm has passed . I generally will rush to get in the woods as quickly as possible when the storm has passed.

That’s funny, that’s when I got my biggest buck, a 11 pointer at exactly 2 o-clock.It stopped raining early and something told me to go set up and I did, 2 hours latter he showed up feeding on white acorns.

Our deer love a light rain. Move in the middle of the day for sure.

Here in Florida it rains a lot. I see deer moving during and after rain, especially light. I feel like they’re somewhat on edge because all of their senses are less effective in the rain, so they move more. Not necessarily far, but they move. I’ve seen them get up from bed, move ten yards and bed back down over and over.

I learned something or noticed what I think could be a pattern last night actually. I have a cell camera on a scrape that is about 100-150 yards outside of buck bedding and last night at 535pm after all the rain we had here during the morning and early afternoon the first bucks to show up to that scrape were 2 shooters. The first one worked the scrape then the next picture was him standing near it looking back in the direction while another buck approached. It was literally like a race as Dan has described about early season buck bedding scrapes. Rain all week this week and unfortunately my season does not open until Saturday.

My experience is deer get up and move as soon as the rain ends...at least here in the southeast.

Depends on fly situation. When the flies r bad in the early season a cloudy day with 🌧 will give them a chance to get in a feeding session when the conditions r right. I would rather have those conditions than a clear & windless day.

I’ve ran20 plus trail cams for ten years, ,when it calls for rain I go get them all out of the woods and put them back in after the rain is over. My reason is I never get many videos when it’s inclement weather, snow or rain or storms, , however I have found out this one thing, ,if they are on white oak acorns, they will move to get them, but nothing else. Ohhh I do not put cameras in bedding areas
