How To Hunt Deer In The Rain

Just because it's raining doesn't mean we're out of the hunt. In this video I go over strategies for hunting in and around those major rain events that pop up from time to time throughout the season.

I hunt the rain, not pouring toad stranglers but a soft to steady rain deer move the whole time. I use a tree umbrella or a ground blind to stay dry. Now I won't hunt if any lightening in the area.

Definitely agree with what you’re saying. last week I shot a decent buck I was watching and I hunted a patch of woods right above their bedding area when it was raining in the morning and it stopped for about 30 minutes and he walked into a little food plot I had In a thick patch of woods and I was able to put him down 👍

Scents may be washed away during the rain but are intensified after the rain. Even I can smell the forest scents better after the rain. I don't know if all those scents help cover my scent or intensify my scent. Maybe both.

Any tips on keeping a rifle dry in a stand? It's hard to the rifle out of a bag without spooking the deer ? 🤷‍♂️

Haven’t seen any rain but briefly twice since early June so this isn’t even an issue here in south MS. Drought map tells the story.

I thought about using wramp around umbrella on tree and use something like seat to keep my butt dry to plus u got also play wind on rainy day were wind blows rain in direction as well .
