If oil pastels were more thin, they would be the perfect media: for me, the issue is that they are so thick, that you only can make big size works with them.

omg I picked the same portrait by Sargent to make a study with oil pastels a few months ago! I was so scared because it was my second oil pastel portrait and the first one looked awful... but I had tons of fun and it ended up looking not so bad. Yours is soooo prettyyyy, it's hard to believe you don't use them on a regular basis, you did a great job! :)

Each video is somehow even better than the last. I've become a diehard Sargent fan because of you! Google Arts and Culture sent me down a rabbit hole. Thank you for featuring my music ❤

It's beautiful, I used to hate using oil pastels at college but they have developed a lot since then. Your portrait looks like it's been painted with oils not drawn. I like the texture too. It's a great alternative to actually painting.

It turned out so beautiful!!🧁I loved this review.
I love that hands can be used to blend the pastels and how buttersoft they are!🧈
I wonder how a finished piece can be protected from further smearing...🤔

I love your videos and your art style! This makes me want to invest in some oil pastels. I have “soft” pastels but they feel too much like chalk.
