Thanks for sharing🙌 You should blend with a blending stump as the oil will absorb into your skin and blood stream.

You can use a bit of baby oil or a paper stump for blending oil pastels.

Great first attempts Emma, the seascape is lovely! Love Ohu Sia's work, she is a master! Have learnt to make my blending easier by warming oil pastels on the paper first with a hairdryer, softens them and lets them move and blend easier. TFS!!

I've never found oil pastels to be easy OR fun (but I do like chalk pastels a lot), so I'm impressed with your waterscape drawing indeed. I also like the coffee mug with the colorful dots - fun in and of itself. Thanks for sharing!

If you are going to blend with your finger, please use Art Guard. It helps protect from absorption of toxins. Also a tip: your index finger is weaker, to blend, use your stronger middle finger.

You did awesome! I've never used oil pastels myself but I think you did a great job on all your pieces. I'd like to try these as well. You are such an inspiration Emma. Thank you for stepping outside your comfort zone.

It does look very preety, I didn't expect it to turn out so well on the 1st attempt. The pastels and paper look very nice, definitely worth trying them out and the actual colors when they are laid down on the paper they look amazing. The whole artwork is a definitely a success but there's something very beautiful about that sea, the way it turned out, amazing.

thank you for honestly sharing that trying a new medium may be accompanied with feeling awkward and being frustrated by the outcome. And thank you for sharing how you overcame it! Love your little seascape😍

Many years ago we used kleenex to blend the colors. The product we used was called cray paas. That was back in the 1960's. The kleenex was soft and made the blending easier.

I am so glad you are doing this. I purchased both those packages of pastels & have been leery to crack them open.

I watched her video and she uses a Q-Tip to blend. I like your final piece, great job for first time. Thank you for showing this medium, I’ve never heard of this.I don’t know if I’d have the patience for this medium. I’m sure you will be awesome with this . Lots of colors! 👍❤️
