The 1,000mph Car, Inside Bloodhound SSC - Guinness World Records

To mark the first test firing of Bloodhound SSC's hybrid rocket, here's a closer look at what it will take to push a car to a whopping 1,000 mph. The attempt will take place at Hakskeen Pan in South Africa in 2014.

The B-58 Hustler, XB-70 Valkyrie, F-111, and B1-A all had encapsulated ejection compartments where pilot's seats were inside pressurized capsules. If they could do it decades ago then surely it can be done today.
