Starlog. Cinefantastique. Fangoria. Heavy Metal. Fantasy & Science Fiction. These were a constant source of entertainment in my youth. I still have a few Starlogs preserved in plastic and I have all of my favorites in PDF format.

What does it say about me that I still have a complete collection of "Starlog, " and it's companion "Future" in archival boxes. And all the specials. I'm staring at them as I type...

I even got a few letters published in it, one commented on by David Gerrold.

My Dad had visitation rights. He would pick me up and we'd go to White Hen Pantry. He would get me a Star Log, a Matchbox car and a frozen Coke. That was so long ago. I miss him.

I used to get Starlog in England. My first issue was no.17 with Battlestar Galactica on the front in 1978, aged 12 yo. I still have many of them still. I h ad a pen pal for a few years in California through the magazine, and ordered a Darh Vader helmet by Don Post Studios, ordered from Fantasy Classics in LA in December 78.
Starlog gave me information that was not avaliable elsewhere.
Great days indeed.
Thanks for posting.

I first read about the light saber duel between Ben and Vader on the lava planet in Starlog, then had to wait decades to see it.

I was really into Space 1999 and my favorite issue included fold out blueprints of the Eagle.

Starlog is what fandom had before the Internet.

I guess you know that Terry Carter (Col. Tighe on the original Battlestar Galactica) just passed away. He was 95.

I used to love this magazine! At one point, there was a Starlog store in one of my local malls (Fox Valley mall in Aurora, IL) There were many celebrity signings there, including David Prowse. Was crushed when the magazine ceased it's run. The store eventually closed as well. Thanks for the memories!

"Famous Monsters of Filmland and the Sears Wishbook, " that brings back memories. Mad Magazine and Weird also provided reading material back in the day.

I still own all my old issues up until around September 1983. Sadly, I tossed out the later ones. I was such a nerd...that I NEVER met another living soul who ALSO read them! I have all the issues of the sister magazine "Future." Yes...I also have all the issues of "Fantastic Films." Mahalo for dispelling my notion that I was alone in my own tiny world. Aloha!

I was 18 in 1976. A friend and I found two copies of issue one at a local mom and pop grocery store. We each bought one. I then subscribed. Still have all my issues, still in very good condition.

When I was a kid, a subscription to Starlog Magazine was my annual birthday present from my aunt. I used to love getting this magazine every month.

Had our share of Starlog, Fangoria and Famous Monsters in the house as a kid. I was the more space orientated of us 3 brothers. I should check the attic to see if I have any left. I know alot was cleaned out after we moved out of the family home...

Excellent show! I collected Starlog, by subscription, 1999 until 2003. But bought it monthly starting at issue 9. I would get a quarter daily from an elderly woman next door, I honestly can't remember her name, to get her a pack of cigarettes from the corner store. That change got me my first issue. Along with a couple comic books. Ah, the memories! Lol. ✌️❤️🙂
