The Middle Ages are often called the dark times, but some may argue that isn’t fair. After all, that’s when they came up with windmills, gothic style, typography, keyboard instruments and glasses. Moreover, the medieval castles had the most exciting events happen there: intrigues, tournaments and magnificent feasts.

Thanks, though some inaccuracies, nobody pooped at the high table in a pot under their bench ! In fact a convenient gaurdarobe was positioned behind the high table for those wishing to use, after all, nobody wants someone having a dump whilst we're eating ! Also, human beings have always strive to be as comfortable as possible. Another falicy is that nobody drank water. Perhaps more so in populated towns due to poor sanitation, however, the vast population we're rural living and drank water regularly Castle's had a well dug deep into into the water table, hence they survived seiges, they often ran out food moreover. Hope this is helpful.

This is excellent! Well done. I just came back from Italy (Aosta Valley, Piedmont) and visited some castles, two intact and a museum, the other a ruin from the 1100s. I saw a toilet in one which led me to search for information about this topic. 😊

I will link to this video in my WP blog and substack newsletter.

0:37 Neuschawanstein Castle near Fussen Bavaria post medieval fantasy castle built by Mad King Ludwig in the 1880 so irrelevant to the theme of the video.
