Considering glass is made from sand, this isn't that far fetched...

I thought glass was one of the easier materials to just clean and reuse. I don't fully know the story of this organization, but it would be amazing if they were able to divert reusable glass back to breweries, jarring facilities, or consignment shops, and use the broken or harder to process glass items to turn into sand.

So glass can't be directly made from recycled glasses, they have to be converted to sand first bcoz glass is composed of limestone, sand and soda

Most beverage containers have 10 cents deposit in Michigan; beer, pop wine coolers but not tea or water. Might still be 5c each in NY..
