We have very strong countries like Portugal England Spain Germany and Belgium, I honestly think that France are the favorites to win the EUROs this summer. Part of having success in international football, it’s all about having superstars, that type of player who can put your team on the back and shine the most when the lights are the brightest. In the late 1990s and early 2000s with the likes of Zinedine Zidane (supported by Thierry Henry) and Michel Platini, not a coincidence that they won the World Cup in 1998, won the EUROs in 2000 and got to the World Cup final in 2006 and without Zidane’s head butt, would they have won that game, maybe. After going through a difficult period, you can see that France have had that star power back. In 2016, Antoine Griezmann was the one who was carrying the team on his back and France made it to the EUROs final on home soil, 2018, the emergence of Kylian Mbappe was key to their World Cup win as he took the tournament by storm and while in 2021, they got knocked out of the RD of 16 in the EUROs, they almost won back to back World Cups in 2022 and they actually broke a curse that has been going on with reigning world champions which is getting out of the group and they managed to do that. Even though they lost the final to Argentina which was unfortunate, France showed resilience and courage and I think that this time around, they have a chance of winning the EUROs.

Kylian Mbappe is the undisputed talisman of the team and having him at his very best is what’s key to their success in the upcoming tournament combined with the brilliance of Antoine Griezmann and they heavily rely on him going forward and he’s probably their most important player on the team and has been in the last 3-4 international tournaments, combined with their excellent depth from an attacking perspective (Olivier Giroud Ousmane Dembele Randal Kolo Muani Kingsley Coman Marcus Thuram Bradley Barcola etc. .). They’ve always produced world class midfielders from Zidane and Viera to Pogba and Kante to now Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni and both of them are very special in their own way and even though he won’t play a lot, they have N’Golo Kante back in the squad. Even after Raphael Varane announced his retirement their quality in defense is still there. The fact that Didier Deschamps says that William Saliba one of the best defenders in the world who was part of a team that had the best defense in the premier league can say that he’s not a regular starter for his country it tells you how deep they are at the back as Ibrahima Konate is an excellent defender, despite his troubles at club level, Dayot Upamecano is one of the first names on the team sheet with the national team and Theo Hernandez is an elite left back and in attack he’s a beast. Jules Kounde is also a CB, who’s been deployed as a RB even if it’s not really his favorite position. They have world class players in every position and in the goalkeeping department they went from Hugo Lloris to Mike Maignan and he’s an elite keeper. Overall, I just don’t know how France keep producing this extraordinary level of talent and I think their squad is so deep they have a brilliant manager in Deschamps and having great coaching is what complements a squad full of good players and that’s the key ingredient they have. They have so much quality and depth and they have a starting lineup of players who didn’t make their squad they’ve always been deep and have relied so much on superstars in the past and they still do that now. They didn’t do great at the last EUROs, they’re hungry to avenge their loss at the World Cup final 2 years ago and they’re going all the way this time around. With Mbappe and Griezmann in form barring any injury, I realistically don’t see anybody stopping them from winning the EUROs.

The difference, in my opinion, with the past french teams is that france doesn't rely on mbappé, at least not as much as we did with zidane and platini. This is beaucause mbappé isn't at the center of the play unlike griezmann for exemple who probably the only irreplacable player in france (we saw this when he was not playing against chile and germany in the latest matches)

80s - Michel Platini
In the 90s the Eric Cantona era was the bridge between Platini and Zidane era
late 90s to mid 2000s - Zidane era
Karim Benzema's era is the bridge between Zidane and Kylian Mbappé era
2018-present is Kylian Mbappé era

Our team era is Antoine Griezmann's, not Mbappé. Kylian may be captain and our superstar, but the heart of the french national team is Antoine, and it's like that since 2014. He is the key player. We can win without Mbappé, we cant without Grizou. The only matches he missed, we played our poorest football since the Domenech Era. He is the Platini of our team and believe me a lot of people are REALLY dreading the day he retires...

France is my top pick, but I don’t think they’re invincible, I think England and Germany have a chance.

The benzema era should have brought titles, but instead scandals.

Its not Mbappe era, its Griezmanns. In 2018, Mbappe was just a rising teen but Griezmann was already considered to be the best except Messi & Ronaldo. In Fact, many still argue that Griezmann should've won the 2018 Ballond'or given his victory of world cup, Europa league and amazing G/A stats at Atletico Madrid. Mbappe became the face of France after 2020 but since then France haven't really won or achieved anything.

I’m gonna keep picking France until they fall off. Even though they lost to Switzerland, they basically just let off the gas up 3-1 in OT. And Coman I think had a really good chance to score in that one. But to me, I’m a big Coman fan. He has amazing skills except just has had a couple let downs but also scored the winner in a Champions League Final. I think he is better than Dembele and hope he shines in Euros. France is just too stacked to pick against.

I think Portugal will win the Euro 2024. I think Bruno and Felix will destroy everybody till the end, Ronaldo won't have to worry about failing in the the Euro with a young, talented squad like that.
