Did not work. Got to 12:55 and the Reset Password button is greyed out and it says "You cannot change the password for..." Any ideas?

Absolutley great, I tried previously other workarounds that have already been fixed by Microsoft. This one works with the latest Windows 10 version (sept 2021), I use an old Windows 8 CD to boot from. Anyway when the problem is fixed you have to undo the minor changes in system32

What about cleaning up utilman after you just renamed it in the system32 folder? You've effectively broke utilman.

I appreciate this tutorial you taught me something new today and I was able to get back into an old computer. However, I did want to point out that you should also let the user know how to revert the changes you made, because you have left them without a working cmd.exe program inside windows (shortcuts, cmd.exe, etc).
After you get the password reset you should roll back the changes by booting back into the windows installer utility following his steps up to the copy command and instead do this:
rename utilman1.exe utilman.exe
rename cmd1.exe cmd.exe

I followed your directions exactly, but instead of Windows letting me change the password, it opens up a door to Narnia.

I never created an account, so I used the default user account in which I put a password.
To reset the password, I followed the tutorial until the final step of putting 'control userpassword2' on the utilman exe, but nothing happens, the user accounts menu just did not popped-up.
Is there any tricks that could help me?

When i typed in "copy utilman.exe utilman1.exe" it said "The system cannot find the file specified" Can you help me with this one?
