What? 12?! How did a 12 year old trick recruiters, other soldiers, and the CO into thinking he was an adult?

If that 12 year old kid was in the Navy, you haven't told us who the youngest kid was in the Army.

That fuckin 12 year is better than all of us… imagine having so much pride in your nation that your willing to die and sacrifice everything for your country. True hero!

Wow, the youngest soldier in the Army, was in the Navy… I don’t know what’s crazier, that he was 12, or that he joined two branches at once.

Reason there is more air force that died than marines is because uncle sam's misguided children don't die

Just to correct some of the erroneous statements made herein: The USAAC became USAAF in 1941; the USAF was created in 1947. The USAAC/F suffered 52, 173 battle casualty deaths during WWII; this tragic loss rate was exceeded by RAF Bomber Command (55, 573) that suffered the highest percentage loss rate (battle casualty deaths) of ANY Allied formation without exception - it was 44.4 %.

There is a movie about Calvin Graham, it's title is "Too young the Hero"
Ricky Schroeder plays Calvin. Some scenes were filmed near Camp Lejeune, I was stationed there at the time and was an extra in the movie.

The youngest person to serve in WW2 was Róża Maria Goździewska working as a nurse at age 5! (This happened on the Powstanie Warszawskie)

The story about Calvin is actually really weird.

He was discovered first by a military dentist, slid his work into the “accepted” pile, went to the navy, yes he was wounded. He was thrown in jail, and his sister threatened to tell the press about what the Navy did. He was supposed to get the Medal of Honor but didn’t for 60 years! Why? His file was lost, until someone found a carbon copy of it. It moved around a lot till it reached the right offices and then: He got it when he was 73 before dying of a heart attack 6 months after receiving it.
