This simple upgrade to your table saw miter gauge can immediately improve your cut quality, accuracy and safety. The fence on most miter saws is too small. Add a longer fence to your miter saw and you'll get better results on your next project.

*Just completed a big trim project on my house **MyBest.Tools** Performed very well. Also appreciate how easy it is to move, set up and store with the integrated stand. No more cutting wood on my knees.*

I added the extension to my gauge and especially appreciate the cut in the wood fence to line up my work piece. This helps me with accuracy since I use my saw guard at all times. The table saw scares the devil out of me so I use all precautions I can. Thanks for the video.

So simple, explained perfectly without waffle. even suggested aprox measurement. Just bought a similar saw, not yet used it. will make this first.

I always put two sharp finishing nails that are barely protruding out the face of the wood fence. Squeeze your workpiece into the nail points to keep the piece from sliding around as you cut.

I'm new to woodworking and I added this to my miter gauge. Definitely made things better. Thanks for posting this.

Just bought my first table saw used on Craigslist. I've watched so many videos on crosscut jigs but never anything about the miter gauge. This is so cool, hope my craftsman miter gauge has the 2 screw holes. That sucker is heavy, hope I don't need to drill. Thanks for the video

I still prefer to use my blade safety shield to protect my fingers whenever possible; so I just added a shorter fence instead. Better than no fence.

Good video. Do you know of any advantage to building a full miter sled with a fence attached to a base that is glued to two wood rails as opposed to a single fence attached to one or two miter gauges? I don't see the advantage or benefit, but I see many videos on this type of build.

Not that this is a bad idea. But let's be clear that if you're going to rely on that notch, you can never cut anything other than a straight 90 degree cut. This means it's no longer an effective "miter" gauge, but a simplified crosscut sled.

Extend the fence, sure. but forgive yourself if you end up cutting it a bit shorter for other angles.

Brilliant. I have used my brand new table a couple of times in the past week and wondered how to use the mitre gauge it came with, including why yhe gauge had holes, as well as bolts/adjusters. The instructions did not mention at all that I am to fit my own fence to it. Thank you so much for your video. This is my little project tomorrow!!

I have the Professional Sawstop. And I would prefer to keep the board on the miter gauge (MG) but then it won't fit in the sawstop holder mounted on right side of cabinet. The tilt wheel is in the way. I either have to remove the board, or store MG somewhere else. I would love to see if anyone made a better holder to mount to side of cabinet that can hold the MG with the board attached.
