What kind of external light were you using on the bracket, before you changed it with the rode mic?

Hey man. I want to purchase this Canon EOS M3 + Rode Mic setup so bad but I have been hesitant for 2 months straight now, it's driving me crazy.
Would you recommend this camera+mic setup for vlogging? This will be my very first big vlog equipment purchase and I am so careful.
Any feedback will be appreciated.
