this song is a recording masterpiece. Madonna is not a pop star as people tag her, she is a fine arts performance artist.

Unless you were alive and present 1998, you have no idea how this song and this album influenced the pop landscape. After this was released, everyone else was adding electronic sounds to their songs.

"Is that her?" - New generations discovering where the so called 'eras' in pop stars started. She was the first one to 'reinvent' herself over and over

The Most Versatile Music Artist ever! She's done it all; rock, pop, r&b, new-disco, ballad, latin, EDM, eletronic, electro-folk, jazz, étc. Every single album sounds so different from the other, she never plays safe, that's why she's the Queen of Pop! The Greatest Woman in Music of all time.

Madonna truly is a chameleon in the music industry, not just reinventing her music multiple times, but her own image too. She is a great artist, who doesn’t get the full recognition she deserves! Check out more from the ray of light era. I love drowned world/substitute for love, and the power of goodbye.

So glad to see you both enjoying this Madonna journey so much! Her catalog is extremely diverse and full of surprises and left turns. I'd recommend checking out "Don't Tell Me", "Human Nature", "La Isla Bonita" or "Express Yourself" next. "Oh Father" is also another one with a particularly striking video.

If you're interested in songs/videos in this same vein as "Frozen, " try "Rain, " "The Power of Goodbye, " and "Bedtime Story." If you want something totally different, "Justify My Love, " "Papa Don't Preach, " and "Express Yourself" are my picks.

it's very cinematic & grand in scale. The 1st single off the Ray of Light album & at 1st listen it was a HUGE surprise. In fact it took more than a few listens to appreciate ALL it had to offer. There was a huge PR buildup to it but nobody expected a song that did THAT! it was M's 1st new music since the Evita era a few years before, and the entire project was VERY highly anticipated & VERY well received. Madonna, having a baby just a couple of years prior, was back in top form... some say in the best form she's ever been in. I tend to agree. an album like ROL 16 years into a staggering career easily helped Madonna transition into her electronic/spiritual phase. her biggest 'reinvention' ever... & her continued reign as the most famous woman on the planet.

This one had some banger remixes too... as do most of Madonna's songs.

*Again, next 2 requests... Express Yourself, Oh Father.^

*_great Madonna reactions!_*

This amazing artist has literally ruled and led the music industry for 40 years. She set the standards so high that no one will ever catch up. A visionary and creative genius that did it all on her own terms with hard work and an iron will that bulldozed over society's preconceived notions and judgements with breathtaking guts and intelligence. She paved the way and all the others followed in awe. Biggest selling female artist of all time with close to 400 million records sold and the biggest selling solo touring artist of all time with over 1.5 billion dollars in ticket sales alone. Best live act on this planet her tours are stunning and spectacular and out of this world. You are in for a wild ride. She don't give a flying fuck what you think of her and she worked and fought hard for that privilege. Broke boundaries and created a new standard in the music industry for creative expression and artistic control. Try Papa don't Preach from 1986 next. Biggest selling song of that year about teenage pregnancy. She was always brave and brash and stood up for minorities since the beginning of her career. She paved the way. J

When I first heard this song, I was so amazed. Never heard anything like it for that time it was released (from the album Ray Of Light). Her r&b influenced album before this ‘Bedtime Stories’ the title track gave us an insight of what was to come.

She has a very versatile, beautiful, storytelling performance singer's voice. She can go from campy, innocent- sexy and celebratory to deep, dramatic and theatrical. Some see it as her reinventing herself. That may be true to some extent, but I see it more as she expressing different sides to her own character and her voice. The one constant in her body of work is her fabulous storytelling voice. "There is only one Madonna"!

"Frozen" is my all-time fave Madonna song. It's just... haunting!

You would probably really love the entire Ray of Light album. It's her most experimental album and there's a lot of this sort of ambience and electronic sounds mixed with cords and some crazy percussion.

Seriously anything on the Ray Of Light album is gold including Frozen. It mixes ambience with dance electronic music and I dont know how but it works really well together. Hope you react to more of this album :)

She was dark haired at short 1998-1999 period. React the Power of Goodbye from the same album.

Madonna always surprises with each and every album and shows a new side and sound. This is one of her best songs, from one of her best albums. She was in her spiritual phase and just gave birth to her first child when she recorded this. There are too many songs to suggest in her 40 year career and counting. It's nice to see a young generation appreciating her art!

A little history. Madonna came on the scene in early 80s & while very successful, some said that she sounded like Minnie Mouse on helium. Then, with her 3rd album, True Blue, her voice was noticeably more well rounded. From there, she just got bigger & bigger, culminating in her Greatest Hits Album & Blonde Ambition Tour, which has a documentary, Truth or Dare. And Vogue was her biggest & I think considered the song of the decade. Dance Floors were dangerous when Vogue played because of all the Vogueing.
There was a backlash with her Sex book in the mid 90s & some predicted that she would decline.
Her career kind of had a rebirth with her Ray of Light álbum. She had experimented with blending emotion & techno music. That's enough for now...

The music video (MV) was filmed in 1998 in a dry lakebed in the Mojave Desert in CA. As characteristic of the high production quality of her MVs and concert tours, here, she again succeeds in putting together all the artistic and technical elements to capture and convey to her audience the messaging of this song—that of a mystical perspective of the female angst and melancholy that results at times, from the coldness and apathy of the object of one’s love. This song and others from her Ray of Light (ROL) album represents a turning point era in her life and career when she’s matured, became more deeply introspective and spiritual following: the birth of her daughter, Lourdes; her journey into Eastern mysticism (Hinduism, Buddhism, Ashtanga yoga, and Kabbalah); and her successful lead actress role in the film musical, Evita. Appreciate you covering Madonna and really enjoyed your reactions to her music.
