2:45 Potential Remedies for Costochondritis

Today we’re going to talk about costochondritis. What is this condition, and how do you get rid of it? 30% of chest pain related visits to the ER end up being because of costochondritis.

Costochondritis is also called costosternal syndrome. With this condition, there’s pain and tenderness upon palpation. In most cases, a cause can’t be identified unless there’s trauma. But, what if there’s no trauma, no lung infection, and the person doesn’t have shingles? What’s going on?

Two potential causes of costochondritis:

1. Low Vitamin D

2. A Problem With the Liver or Gallbladder

It’s important to note that if the pain is on the left side, that could potentially relate to your heart. But what if you get that checked out and it’s not connected to the heart? Even pain on the left side could potentially be related to the pancreas. Both pain on the right side and left side could easily be connected to a problem with digestion.

Potential natural remedies for costochondritis (related to the liver, gallbladder, or pancreas):
• Take betaine hydrochloride (3-5 before you eat)
• Take purified bile salts (on an empty stomach in the morning, after lunch, and in the afternoon)

Talk to your doctor before taking anything new, and rule out other problems like heart issues before trying to self-diagnose. If nothing else seems to help and you can’t find anything wrong, you may want to look at a vitamin D deficiency or a problem with the liver or gallbladder.

Just cured my Costo. Don't need any of this. Follow the ribs where your pain is to that spot on your back. lay on a tennis ball next to your spine in the spots where it hurts. I did it for 2 days and I don't have chest pain for the first time in 3 years. What I learned is that the inflammation in your chest is caused by your back being locked up or restricted and when you breathe, your rib cage is only able to move as it does when you breathe, in your chest instead of chest and back. The over compensation of movement in your rib cage is causing the inflammation, which is causing your pain. I'm not an expert or a doctor but I did this and it worked almost instantly.

I have symptoms like Costochondritis but mine seems to be caused due to bad posture when working and looking at my phone. Always having my head tilted out and forward and shoulders forward creates huge pressure on the chest. This means my chest tightens, causing pain and needs to be popped. I've learned some stretches that really help with this.

Geez, I just looked into this last night! Perfect timing Dr. Berg. Turned out that's not causing my pain. I see my doc today. He doesn't push drugs, thank God.

Unfortunately this has sent me to the ER multiple times this year, including last evening. It’s particularly scary due to the current pandemic. My costochondritis is usually on the left side and heart checks out great. This video is right on time!

I have it on the left side, really painful now. I've been taking beatine HCL for a few years now and also betaine citrate last few months. Taking vit D 12000IU for years already but still, this pain does not go away. It's really painful and I have the feeling it comes from my back.

The pain is right in the centre and only hurts when I press on it.
Dr Berg what could that be? Love your information, bless you.

I haven't had an attack of this since taking bile salts. My pain was on left and my gallbladder is out. I believe, in my case, stress was a major cause for me. Stress can strip vitamins and key minerals. Managing my stress, getting on Keto and taking your supplements have improved my life 400%! I am so grateful.

I could cry! I'm so happy I came across this video. I had to see a cardiologist and everything came out OK. Then got referred to a gastrointestinal dr which I'm still working with and tests are coming wnl. The chest pains hurt so bad I went to the e.r. it scares me every time. It feels like my rib or sternum wants to break. I hope to get answers. Your videos are awesome. Thank you for always explaining how the body works.

I used to get this all of the time. I'm not sure what triggered it but after quitting dairy, gluten and alcohol it went away.

You're so right about chest pain could be from digestion. I get chest pain from chronic constipation. Thanks for sharing another vid Dr Berg!!!

Definitely suffer from this.
Two cardiologists, several doctors, many years, much money. I know this added to then treating me like a hypochondriac. Went to chiro, first visit, he did that popping tool on my breastbone, which left bruises, but the pain went away. I felt amazing.
This video makes so much sense. I have also been majorly deficient in D, and do have liver issues. I also get that referred pain in my right shoulder.
The chest pain always feels like heart aches and the pain in the right shoulder I always worry is lung cancer. Since I've seen doctors for both things and they found nothing (and didn't care to take it any further) THIS actually begins to put the pieces together.
Thank you!!

Thank dr berg. I have suffered from "chest inflammation " for two years now. And actually last night I went to the ER for what I thought was kidney problems and nothing they said it was probably this again, even though the symptoms were slightly different
