07/53 MELODIC MEDLEYS #7 - TANGERINE DREAM (26 tracks from 1975 - 2009)

Every Sunday this year I will be uploading a medley of one of my favourite groups or artists which will predominantly comprise segments of their best album tracks. Each video will last between 15 and 30 minutes, and each music segment will have its own image to corresponding with the timed track listing I’ll also provide. Many different genres will be represented, so if this particular upload’s not your preferred style then perhaps next week’s one will be.

Today we enter the realm of Tangerine Dream, who were one of the pioneers of electronic music and are largely responsible for creating the ambient and trance music styles. One of the problems with creating a medley of this type of music is that chord changes are less defined than in pop songs, so finding suitable link points becomes far more of a challenge. This meant that there are a couple of transitions that are harsher than I would have liked, but on the whole I think this piece flows reasonably well.
Occasional TD dabbled with vocals, and whilst I found those experiments largely unsuccessful, there were a handful of tracks where they did enhance the overall effect, and I’ve grouped these together as part of the following selection of 26 tracks which cover the 1975 – 2009 period :
