I just finished reading Benjamin Teitelbaum's book "War for Eternity". It is an eye-opener to say the least. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in understanding this new type of right-wing Christian nationalism that is growing all over.

I have visited Russia (and the former Soviet Union) about a dozen times between my first time in the Leningrad area with a treble choir in 1959, and my most recent medical conference trip to Yekaterinburg just before the dawn of Covid-19. It is interesting that the country I first saw as a bastion of doctrinaire Marxist-Leninism, as a nine-year old, I saw evolve into a freeforall, chaotic version of cut-throat capitalism as a 49-year old, and then devolve into a neo-fascist oligarchy by the time I was 69.
