As dementia diagnoses become more recognised, more people are being identified with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI).
MCI is the onset and evolution of cognitive impairments beyond those expected based on the age and education of the individual, which are not significant enough to interfere with their daily activities.
However for some people MCI may be a prodromal phase of dementia, akin to prediabetes and diabetes.

Currently in many areas there is a lack of a structured approach to help and support those with MCI to plan ahead and to self-manage their symptoms.
This film funded by the Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire Strategic Clinical Network and created in partnership with Age UK Trafford proposes a multidisciplinary approach to address this.
This film supports the work of Dementia United (the dementia devolution strategy for Greater Manchester), however we encourage you to use this to help raise awareness of joint working around MCI amongst health and social care professionals and the voluntary sector.
