INTP | Sherlock Holmes Personality Type

Показать описание
The most popular fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes, is different from the average human being in many ways. He describes himself as a sociopath, which implies his belief in having an antisocial personality disorder and he lacks basic understanding of societal norms and values. Such a person tends to excel in areas where empathy is not needed.

Beautifully done! As an aside, I not only share being an INTP with Sherlock, I also share his birthday! January 6.

This makes a lot of sense, Sherlock being an INTP. I myself am a INTP and I have solved many cases dealing with the love life and issues of my friends, to the point where people know I am smart or even consider me a genius. Cheating relationships, Issue with planning and carelessness of planning, and much more. It's funny because back then I would always wonder why I could solve the problems of others, but never my own. It's now made sense to me within the past 4-6 months, and it's cause I'm an INTP. I'm terrible with human emotion, I'm terrible with Women, Friends, and Family at times, and when it comes down to school academics I'm not really interested in such things, so when studying for a test I wing it and I get an A-. I plan on becoming a coder/programmer in the next few years to come. I wouldn't mind being a detective, but I'm not sure I'd throw my life away seeing my intellect is highly valuable.

I also noticed Bill Gates was an INTP, as well as Issac Newton and Albert Einstein. It makes sense, as I and Bill Gates shared many similarities in high school and at home. My father tends to ask me why I'm always stuck in the house, when I could be partying at clubs and talking to Women. My response? I hate parties that don't relate to me, my friends, or family. Clubs are filled with booze, drugs, and vulnerable people, why would I want any of that exactly? I'd rather read, listen to music, and research things I'm actually interested in. Video games are also fun and relaxing. Yes, I consider Dark Souls and League of Legends to be exciting, as some people consider those games stressful and irritating 😂 I myself am quite disrespectful, Idiots annoy me with their pointless banter and bickering, then there is the fact that I think to myself and I lose myself in the interior world, as where people in the exterior world will assume I am lazy or just mentally not there.

Sherlock does not call himself a sociopath EXCEPT in the Benedict Cumberbatch version; and even then he is nothing like a sociopath. He suppresses his emotions for the BENEFIT of those he helps, not because he lacks a conscience.

10:27 NGL, It'd be pretty cool if some writers made characters with personality types in mind.

"Dangerously obsessed with uncovering the Truth". In today's World, this is a truism if there ever was Obsession or Passion or Prime Directive as set internally in an INTP mind? This rings true to me as an that Truth can take one down paths many wish to obfuscate.

10:27 that's exactly what I have been thinking about which is why I understand the debates that happen when people are typing fictional characters.

20:48 Correct, there are even cases where the actor's actual type clashes greatly with the character's.

Except for the sociopath parts, my mind function in similar ways, I test as INFP.

I wonder what would happen if a group of INTP's were to get together to brainstorm to try to help create solutions to problems on large Its not easy finding nothing else, I would venture it would make for a fascinating MB profile would be best as emcee for such an occasion ?

It's interesting comparing the different portrayals of the character over the years. Agreed, the Sherlock played by Cumberbatch is likely an INTP, but it's difficult to argue Conan Doyle's original as almost certainly INTJ. Moriarty in the books seems to be more of an INTP, but he wasn't given a lot of dedicated character development by Conan Doyle.

Most INTPs are of course not sociopaths.

Let's try to discuss Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne/Batman personality, sounds interesting!

Ahh, the age old debate. Is he a P or a J.
My question is, is this solely based on the show or the character as represented in the books? I’ve never watched the show.

i was scared for the first half because there weren't any cog functions. the ti argument feels like fe inferior and not ti.

Si does not only remember details and facts but also prefers to play a role in enabling the care for being appropriate in how they should express their ideas this detective lacks a lot in this area which makes him a child with an encyclopedia for a brain .si is also similar to ti in terms whether what they learn is true I might be wrong but whatever

Sherlock is an INTJ, so is Moriarty. Both are fighters, one of your first clues. There were several other clues you clearly missed. Lol😂 INTP 😂

No. An INTP is not a sociopath. Not arrogant, not someone who will lie to accomplish his goals and has complete disregard for how his actions affect others. This character is a narcissist. Feeling superior--possibly inwardly an INTP may believe that he is smarter in some respects, but since INTPs are so often in their own heads, they often misstep and look stupid at the most basic things. Pushing a door instead of pulling it. Walking into something. Missing the most obvious things. Putting something back together and forgetting to include something, requiring starting over.

This character may utilize the first three INTP functions, but Fe shows caring about others and how the INTP is perceived, which this character clearly does not. He will also go from being deep in thought to leaping into action--an ISTP trait. This character may exhibit some aspects of an INTP's cognitive functions, but as a whole, is nothing like a typical INTP. It's an effort to redefine the INTP as a sociopath the same way they do with monsters like Bill Gates and Elon Musk. After 65 years of living as an INTP I can tell you that we are nothing like this portrayal and such behavior and character are not only repulsive, but antithetical to our personality.

And as to young INTPs exhibiting personality dysfunction such as ADD/ADHD/Aspergers, etc., that is a result of being pumped full of dozens of toxic vaccines in their earlier years. It's a wonder they make it into adulthood.
