Brilliant.
Worked exactly as you described it, unlike some other 'solutions' on YouTube.
My flask was absolutely filthy, but after first treatment 95% of the muck was removed, after the second treatment...absolutely brand new.
I wonder how many other 'tradies' are out there poisoning themselves?

I tried the baking soda and the vinegar solutions...they worked a little for sure...but this stuff? Wow, 3 teaspoons in my caraffe, super hot water, and an hour later it was spotless! Thank you!!

Thank you so much for this video. I tried everything on my thermos, vinegar overnight, brush attachment for my impact drill, and using that together with Bar Keeper's Friend... Nothing worked, I just about gave up until I found your video. It was incredible seeing all the gunk just pour out of my thermos afterwards without any scrubbing on my part. Looks brand new now. Thank you sir!

After watching your review, I bought a kilo of PBW. I’ll see how it goes when it arrives. Mine cost me $26 for a kilo. Still, worth it.

thanks, its been cold lately and i bought my first thermos, a new stanley classic design. it was on clearance for some reason, so I had to buy it. after a few uses, i noticed i havent been able to get it clean. been trying lots of things, tried rubbing alcohol + salt shake, overnight hot water and dawn ultra, scrubbing in vain. i definitely need to do this, thanks for cracking an egg of knowledge on all of us lol.

Great video. I just ordered some from Amazon. I have some vintage 80's made in Japan vacuum bottles that are going to get the PBW treatment. Thanks for the info. You should consider making more videos, you get straight to the point, they are informative, and good videography work.

Thanks a million. Excellent, simple guidance and it works incredibly well. My thermos is like new inside.

2 tsp of powder and fill to top w boiling water, covered it w foil so rubber stopper isn’t affected. 1/2 hour and dump. Two years of guck inside that thermos was astounding because I wash it every day and tried baking soda, vinegar, you name it. Rinse well, as you said.

For a DIY mixture and a lot less money here is a recipe: Five Star themselves say that PBW is basically 70% percarbonate (aka Oxyclean) and 30% sodium metasilicate, which (supposedly) counteracts hard water, which causes the haze a lot of folks see when using straight Oxyclean.
Components:
• Red Devil TSP/90 (Trisodium Phosphate)
• Oxyclean
Use 2 Parts sodium metasilicate (TSP from Ace Hardware) to 1 parts Oxyclean (or some other washing soda) will work great and is a fine replacement for PBW.

Oh, excellent. I can finally properly clean my dad's old thermos. Those coffee stains at the bottom always gave me pause, but it'll be good now.
