Whole moong dal recipe | Protein rich one pot mung recipe

This one pot moong dal recipe is something everyone needs to know! Moong is highly nutritious and a great source of protein. Plus, it is extremely easy to make and tastes comfortingly delicious🥰
Had lots of it a couple of days ago when I was sick. Also, am back to posting reels after a week of radio silence - which is like a zillion years in social media terms! Feels good to be back🤩
Ingredients I used:
- 1 cup whole moong + water for soaking
- 2 tsp ghee
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomatoe, finely chopped
- 3/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 3/4 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 green chillies
- 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- Salt
- 1/2 to 1 tsp red chilli powder, as preferred
- 3/4 tsp coriander powder
- 3/4 tsp cumin powder
- Water as needed
- 1/4 tsp garam masala
- Coriander leaves, finely chopped
Procedure:
- Soak moong in sufficient water for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- Heat ghee in a pan and give tadka with mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
- Add onions, ginger garlic paste and fry till they don’t smell raw anymore.
- Add tomatoes and cook till mushy.
- Add all masalas and mix well.
- Add soaked moong, water and pinch of garam masala and cook till moong turn soft, as preferred.
- Garnish with coriander leaves
