I've played a lot of roblox "horror" games in my lifetime. None of which legitimately scared me.
But this one, is different. The first time you enter this game it doesn't seem that unique. But playing alone, with no knowledge or previous experience scares the shit out of you, especially if you're playing it on xbox where there is no chat and no communication with other players.

This comment is to help players who don’t fully have a grasp on the rake remastered. At the time of writing, I have just a few wins under 400, so my advice is based on experience and repitition. Here you go—


The Rake is most certainly NOT attracted to light, proven by RVVZ, despite the popular opinion. The AI works like this: he will slowly travel to the closest player in a sort of wandering pattern. This “mode” only happens when he is not near any players, so he will sense the closest one from across the map and travel towards them at a slow speed. Once within 125 studs of a player, the rake will begin walking towards them in a straight line. One within 60-70 studs, he will begin crouching, silencing his footsteps and sniffing sounds. At this point, if the rake gets about 20 studs closer and the player looks at him, he will begin to go into chase mode, which triggers a faster running speed and his eyes will glow white. A full bar of stamina and some distance between him and you will put him back into a slow, calm state, unless encountering another player. However, if the player is not looking at the rake while he is in sneak mode, the rake will continue to sneak up on you until he is within 10 studs of you, where he will be able to kill you in one slash. Now, regarding observation tower. Yes, you can see the rake coming up observation tower, but when jumping off, you will receive significant fall damage, and in some places the fall will disable your sprint, at which point your death is almost completely inevitable. Let’s say you do still have your sprint, and, as you said, sprint to safe house and camp there. The rake has a completely separate script to control his AI specifically for safe house, so let me break that down for you. When the rake detects a player within safe house, he will begin trying to circle it, looking for an opening or entrance, as he does at other locations. However, for safe house, the rake is programmed to jump on top of the roof and begin to break in. Sometimes, if his chase mode has not been activated, he will leave you alone if he detects another player. However, once chase mode starts, he will not stop breaking the roof until he gets in, or if you open the door and run. The latter option is the only one that won’t lead you to your death.

Fun fact: Rake's vision is based on a ray cast instead of magnitude (Basically, the rake can only detect you if your right in front of him.) So you can basically sneak behind him. Edit: This is a rare occurance, and really hard to get. Usually happens when he is wandering.

I would recommend if you are trying to get points easily to just walk around the border all night because it’s not hard to survive that way and also you get bonus points for traveling so the more you walk the more points you get

What I’ve noticed from my experience that surprisingly nobody has said yet, is that from my experience, the background ambiance tends to change slightly if the rake is targeting/near you. Normally the ambiance is pretty quiet, a little eerie sounding. But when the rake is around you it kind of changes to a bit of a more intense sounding ambiance. It’s not extremely noticeable but it’s something that always brings my guard up. You’ll know when you hear it.

Another Tip: Do not use flare at night, he can hear the flare gun, i've tryed this multiple times, its not an myth, he really goes to the flare gun sound.

I remember once when we were doing the base camp glitch (where you get the rake stuck) and it turned to a blood hour. He would have stayed there with the glitch in place, but someone shot a flare right behind him. The Rake goes towards the flare for 8 seconds. He ran from the glitch and turned into his blood hour form. I ran and used my vitamins, and I remember hearing him get closer. The night ended thankfully right as he was approximately 50 studs away from me. That was a crazy night lol.

Just letting you all know, The Rake is not really a hard game to survive, what I do is I go to the shop and buy the detector that senses how close the rake is to you and walk around with it on. When the power goes out, you should honestly just wing it go try to find it and fix it. Even if you die, you gain lots of points for fixing the power. The sensor is probably one of the best gadgets to use if you want to survive the whole round. Also look for junk on the ground or behind things and collect them, they give you extra points for the shop when you sell them. And if you are going to stay up at the observation tower, always have a med kit with you if you're planning to jump off. I heard some stuff about how when the rake comes, you have a 50/50 chance of being able to make it back off when flashing the bright light when its walking around the tower, but sometimes it does not work. Worth a shot still.

If you know rake is near you and you have tracker, do NOT look at your back, it means he is in stealth mode yeah, but you can really avoid it, if you just run away without looking at the rake, he wont trigger his running mode, his running mode makes him faster, so if he keeps in stealth mode he will bes lower than running mode but keep in mind his stealth mode is faster than your walking, so you need to calculate if you will have time to regen stamina before he gets you, so you will be able to get away from. (Do not try this without tracker and only do this when you have more than half stamina or if he is 99+ studs away from you)

Also you forgot to mention stealth mode
If the rake don’t see you he will sneak up on you
If he managed to hit you in stealth mode he will one shot you
You can counter this by spiriting or looking at him
Just look behind ever 3-4 seconds
Another tip:if you have less than 90 stamina you most likely will die depending on how far he is

My guide on how to survive: Stay at the edge of the map, save stamina and don’t run, don’t use any light and run away from any sounds that indicate that the rake is there. (Slashing noises, screaming and people dying) And only run when the rake is near or is chasing you. If your alone, try to find someone and and stay close together, if the rake comes then there’s a 1/2 chance that you’ll survive. Which increases the chance rather than getting chased alone and having a higher chance of dying. If you manage to survive the night, the first thing you must buy is the stamina drink, then if you have saved enough points, buy the Rake detector. Everything else is your choice.

Late to the party but heres my personal tip

1. Don't go near any landmarks
Why: a hotspot for people is the safehouse, and while staying with people is good i guess, the safehouse can be claustrophobic and people might panic and open the door and dash when they see mr rake, and for observation tower, thats just a literal death sentence alone, jumping down injures your character slowing you down, and alone your the only one being chased. In a group it's a 1/8 chance your picked to be chased, usually depends on who triggers it, the chance is lower with the lesser the people

2. Use the observation tower for navigating airdrops
Why: Common sense, airdrops have a red smoke, high up and you'll see it. And since the map is full of trees it's more harder to spot airdrops on the ground

3.go near the border
Why: well the top comments already explain so

4. Try not depending on gear
Why: most gear require power like tracker, camera system and etc so when the power goes boom, goodluck surviving. To get rid of this instinct you should usually only use stuff like vitamin D, flashlight, compass, map etc

The map is useful for me because i know where to go if i find a structure like the car or the bus even without the compass its really good when trying to find the shop or trying to get to a good location

From my experience, the rake is honestly kinda hardcore so I have some tips for beginners:

1 The best you can do is keep moving but especially right next to the border as you have a slightly lesser chance of running into it plus you get extra points for traveling even if you don’t survive. It doesn’t matter where you stay put the rake will come for the person nearest to it.

2 when you’re moving, keep looking around you as the rake can enter stealth mode if you don’t spot it and it can kill in one go. If you hear your heartbeat, the rake it nearby.

3 the flare gun can be used to call in a package and from it are supplies. But whatever you do, please don’t fire it at night as the rake is attracted to the sound and will come for you immediately. I remember doing it during my third time playing and got the jump-scare of my life🥲

4 It can be really confusing to find your way around the map to specific locations so if you don’t have enough points for a map, remember what landmarks they might be near to-

Base camp is near the observation tower
The shop is near the power station and leaderboard on the border

5 When the power goes out at night, don’t go and restore it. You will take too much time and the rake will get you (another terrible jump scare). And during the day don’t turn the lights on in the observation tower or keep the door closed in the safe house so instead wait for night to do it to conserve power and avoid risking your life at the power station.

6 It’s usually best if you stay in a group ( a pair is fine too) as the it’s makes your chance of the rake chasing you lesser as it would target others first. Even if you’re alone, don’t instantly start running. When you’re being chased by the rake, your energy is nearly finished by the time you successfully lose it. (Get the radio at the safe house to communicate with others. It helps a lot!)

i don't think he touched on this, maybe in the rest of the video, but he didn't say it in "the rake" segment.
the rake has a stealth mode where if he is not seen he will sneak up behind a player and instant kill them.

if you are near a structure like a house or tent, he may circle it to use it as cover, so he can get closer (hunch) (died and almost died to rake coming from the opposite side of the tent from me, odd how often he does that since if he walks straight towards me, there should have been a 50/50 of him coming from behind the tent and straight up away from it (i have the tent behind me and i see him in front of me) (so maybe he stays out of my line of sight and goes around? idk).

that means that hiding in the tent with the red light isn't a good idea (don't stay in it, maybe outside it but if you are don't stand to close, because the rake can still sneak up on you) and hiding in the house with the doors open, as he can instant kill you (for tent, maybe house if u not looking at door) and sneak in through the door before you can close it (house)
