Is it possible to create a python + flutter *DESKTOP* application that accesses hardware?

For example, if you have 32-bit DLLs than can be called to control the peripheral, how can flutter / flet call those exported functions (either using ffi / platform-channels, or via ctypes windll/loadlibrary)?

It's still impractical. Because is the good old client-server trick (probably gRPC) to create the application. Flet basically uses a Go server to send/receive commands from both Python & Dart. It allows writing in multiple client languages but with a lot of overhead. I don't think it is even worth that. After all, Dart is a great programming language, it has its own flaws but stands out from other programming languages because of it's HMR (Hot Module Replacement) capabilities which Python will never offer, and other languages won't either. Also, the Python implementation is not declarative at all, I hope the maintainer will make that part right else I don't see any point of doing this
