Who Is The GREATEST Lightsaber Duelist Of All Time?

Count Dooku, Darth Revan, Palpatine, and even Anakin Skywalker are often given as the best lightsaber wielders in all of galactic history. I’m going to tell you why this is very wrong. The sith we will discuss today had the most sophisticated lightsaber of all time as well as an extremely unique fighting form. We are of course talking about Exar Kun. His double ended force imbued saber was so hot it could quite easily cut through beskar. What’s more each blade could operate independently of one another, allowing him to confuse opponents by changing the length or intensity of the blade, a bit like the lesser-known lightsaber form Trakata. By utilizing an aggressive version of the hybrid form Niman it has been said that Exar Kun was never defeated in a one-on-one lightsaber combat.

Despite the horrible things Kun did, I can't help but feel sorry for him. He fell to the dark side simply because he wanted to know as much of the Force as possible, and circumstances ended up forcing him to follow that path. The final part of "Tales of the Jedi" in which we see Kun futly begging Ulic to release his spirit from imprisonment in the Temple breaks my soul...

Old Republic duelists were on another level. In an age were thousands of experienced Jedi and Sith existed, to be called one of the was no small feat.

I’m kind of surprised Mace Windu isn’t mentioned considering he was the only master of the Vaapad fighting style (the most aggressive, unpredictable and close-to-the-dark-side style of saber usage) aside from his apprentice who learned it from him.

He literally only died because he was betrayed and undefended being that he had just defeated Sidiois and was focused on holding him under control.

Luke, hailed as a genius swordsman. Out fights everyone, only lost to one duelist due to the unfamiliar whip blade and he just built his short blade and obliterated her.

Kas’im is regarded as one of the most skilled duelists of his time. Master to many, including Darth Bane, Lord Kas’im was proficient in all forms of lightsaber combat, but was especially successful with his preferred form VI. He instructed all of Lord Kaan’s underlings on Koriban that would eventually come to the Brotherhood of Darkness’s aid on Ruusan.

Even Darth Bane knew he would be outmatched in a lightsaber duel against his former master, unless he could use the raw power of the force to tilt the odds back in his favor.

I believe he is a solid candidate for the best, simply because he was a master of all forms, as well as master of the single blade, dual blade, and dual lightsabers.
