Russian Tortoise, The Best Pet Turtle?

preview_player
Показать описание
Russian tortoises (Agrionemys horsfieldii) also known as Horsfield's tortoises, Afghan tortoises, Central Asian tortoises, four-clawed tortoises, and steppe tortoises, are small tortoises with big personalities. As tortoises go, they are very reasonable pets. But are Russian tortoises good pets? Are they even Russian? And are Russian tortoises the best pet tortoises for you?

All tortoises are turtles, but not all turtles are tortoises.
All toads are frogs, but not all frogs are toads.
All birds are dinosaurs, but not all dinosaurs are birds.

The fact that you continued with the "not Russian" Russian tortoise for the entire video gives me a feeling of joy that is beyond articulation.

i have a russian tortoise and i cannot express the amount of joy that she brings me, I would always recommend this tortoise to anyone that is in the tortoise market. :)

I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit disappointed that there was no Russian accent in this video that Clint does perfectly.

"If you're getting bit by turtles, you're doing it wrong"
I will pass this wisdom on to future generations.

I had a Russian Tortoise named Higgins... she lived in my classroom during the school year and in an outdoor paddock at my house in the summer. What a personable, sweet little creature... I adored that sweetheart. Unfortunately, when my district banned pets in the classroom I had to return her to her breeder because I couldn’t fit her tortoise table into my living space. They need something like a 4x8’ tortoise table to be happy, and that’s not easy for most people to fit in their homes. I’ve got a beardie now and love him, but I have never gotten over my sweet tortoise girl. :(

im even more convinced that clint is immortal. He can literally turn a younger tortoise to an older one in a second

They are so cute. I love tortoise's grumpy little faces. I had no idea that not-russian-russian-tortoises had been to the moon before humans. I did a bit of reading on it after watching this... Doesn't sound like it was a great time for the tortoises, but I guess we learned a bunch from it.

The fact he kept saying "Not Russian Russian Tortoise" throughout the whole video, just made it 3 times better.

We've got a Spur Thighed Tortoise that's about 130 and has been passed down our family for several generations. Love these little guys!

We had a Sulcata, he got HUGE. He basically lived outside, where there was no grass. A living bull dozer is a good way to describe them.

They ARE good climbers. Grip might be a problem, but if they can find it (like on a chicken wire fence) they will climb even vertical surfaces. They are very strong for their size and have no issues performing stunts like that.

Love this. I'll never own a turtle, but these guys are adorable.

Okay I love the effect you did on that sulcata popping in.

Had a Russian tortoise as a kid and she was a very sweet animal. She lived in an indoor pen at night and during the colder months, but during the day in the warmer months she got to live in an outdoor pen, with all of her favorite greens and veggies growing all over it. She knew it was feeding time when you tapped on her plate, and would come out of her burrow to eat. She loved being handled and would climb on us.

Unfortunaty, she was a pet store tortoise and wasn't fron a reputable breeder, so she only made it to about 10 years old before she died of some hereditary disease. We were devastated when she had to go.
