I think if you were to take in the sides, higher the waist and lower the neckline might help you! Try it and let me know!

It's actually a well sewn garment. We are so used to stretchy material in the wrong size.
If you don't like the waist make it a bit higher.

Raise the waist and / or drop the neckline ❤ square neck would be soooo cute 😊

Can you show us the pattern? Or what you were going for? It looks well made! ❤

You just need some darts for shaping in the top. You can also raise the waist if you want it more flowy and less waist oriented. It’s actually a cute dress, just not super fitted. The woven fabric probably doesn’t provide the stretch you’re looking for.

Add some darts to bring in the waist. Consider shortening the dress if its still too prairie for you - the print is pretty but also isn't helping in that department. If you used a commercial sewing pattern, know that they run large and its very frustrating. Edit: also i can see its large in the shoulders (shoulder seam is laying off the shoulder), so overall it looks like the pattern was just too large for you.

Add petticoats and a thick white belt… possibly small white gloves and a white hat

The sweet print gives it the “churn butter” vibe, but there are things that might help. Lose the sleeves; bind the arm holes with bias tape or a facing. Take in the waist and the side seams of the skirt a bit. Shorten to just below the knee.

Press the seams open and add pockets on the inseam. It's a pretty dress. Maybe make the sleeves a bit longer.

You need to take in the waist but the color is making it look like a hospital dress I would dye the color too

Waist: Put the dress on inside out and pin (safety pin) the side seams to where you want them. Take it off and draw where the new sideseam will be. Make sure it's matching on both sides. Do a basting type stich (1 straight stich without going back and foward at the ends), try it on rightside out and if it's fitting better, re-sew the seam properly.

Neckline: it isn't laying flat across your collarbones so again, while wearing inside out and while the sides are pinned, play with the neck to see if it needs adjusting at the shoulder, armpit or dart over your chest (basting stich again like the Waist). I also think it needs to be slightly deeper so you can just see your collar bones. You can do this by cutting out the pattern shape on some scrap fabric, take 1cm off at a time while holding up against your torso.

Sleaves: make sure your sleves are starting at the edge of your shoulders. It's hard to tell in the video but they look like they could come in slightly.

Waist line: should be sitting right where your own body curves in. Would also look amazing with a narrow belt, probably white or whatever colour the flowers are

Skirt: needs to be shorten by about 5cms. Not much much, just enought to look more like a 50's style dress. Would also recommend to peticote/tule type skirt underneath to give it volume and movement. (May also need to come in at the hips slightly but not sure)

Make it a few inches shorter and wear a pink belt with it to brighten it up.

Maybe tighten the waist or stick the top of the skirt slightly higher to create the illusion of a more fitting/slimmer fit

You can fix it bring up the hemline to the calves, change the neckline you have an oval face so it doesn't matter if you choose a round v-neck or square they will all go with your face structure. maybe add some embellishment like lace A wide elastic belt with a fun buckle around the waistline. Camel brown would go good with that blue and your hair color. Tighten up those cap sleeves a little bit

Take the waist in a little and it's vastly improved. If it still feels too dowdy to you, then do a flutter sleeve, raise the hemline and/ or lower the neckline. It's so close to perfection!
