Here's one for you Archie. A Yaris GR with the Circuit pack. It's AWD, goes like Billy-O, good on fuel (compared to the other cars you've had) and it looks smart. If you want to, you can fix it up so it looks better inside. Speak to Shmee, he has had one. Great little car, no problems with width restriction, bearable running costs, again compared to your other cars. You know it makes sense.

Hear what you say about trains; I commuted to London from near Bath daily for 20+ years and it was £12k p.a. for a standard class fare at the end or £175 per day. However, trains use surge pricing like airlines: book last minute, pay highest fare. Travel in peak hours, pay for it. However, if you book up to 12 weeks early, (and split your ticket into two or more sections... but you don't have to get off the train) and it can be relatively much cheaper. But it's not much fun!

Archie borrow on your mortgage and pay it back. I was paying 1.6% on £12K via remortgage. Then I was paying £330 monthly on a Boxster (981) GTS, Porsche wouldn't accept more than 12K deposit on used GTS. The Porsche rate was something like 5%...PCP rates are massively more than just borrowing from your mortgage...
