Thank you, I was getting frustrated when it wasnt working earlier but running the "dotnet new console" saved me! There is another thing you can do to run it directly through vscode and not its terminal. You can click command + shift + p and under the settings.json change the line "csharp"="scripcs" to "csharp"="dotnet run" for it to run.
