Daniel Newman of the Futurum Group says that with the semiconductor export restrictions imposed on China, the country has shown the "ability to innovate against the odds", and he worries about greater retaliation against U.S. tech companies and chipmakers.

China overtook the U.S. in 2011 to become the world's largest manufacturer. Two years later, it became the largest trading nation based on the value of its imports and exports. With that, it brought an end to America's long reign as the world's No. 1 manufacturer and trading nation. But unlike its Western peers, China’s rise as an economic superpower was achieved without the use of force or hegemonic means.

China had not adopted the so-called ‘Gunboat diplomacy’ that was synonymous with Western imperialists in the pursuit of their trade and foreign policy objectives with the aid of military power to intimidate other less powerful entities into submission or concession.

In fact, China was at the receiving end of the full brunt of the Western combined forces, led by none other than the United States and the United Kingdom during the First Opium War (1839-1842), the Second Opium War (1857–1858) and the Eight-Nations Alliance (1900-1901). China was forced, at gunpoint literally, to sign unfair treaties. Amongst others, these unequal treaties (signed during the 19th and early 20th centuries) between China and the U.S., the U.K., france, Germany, Russia and Japan, were one-sided, requiring China to cede land, pay reparations, open treaty ports, give up tariff autonomy, legalise opium import, and grant extraterritorial privileges to foreign citizens.

But what China brings to the world today is the price advantage of Chinese manufacturing products of comparable or superior quality, made possible by China comprehensive industry chain, well educated and highly skilled labor force, and their relentless quest for scientific and technological innovation.

China’s seemingly unstoppable manufacturing power is conspicuously viewed by the West with a convoluted sense of fear and jealousy. But a repeat of the so-called Gunboat Diplomacy vis-à-vis a militarily powerful China is a non-starter. That is when the intelligence and espionage agencies of the U.S. and U.K., the CIA and MI6 went into overdrive to cook up the so-called “national security threat” as a convenient excuse to deny the clearly superior Chinese products access to their markets, albeit to their own detriment.

The 5G infrastructure is a case in point. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Professor Graham Allison in their co-authored opinion piece, noted that average 5G data rates in the US are around 75Mb/s compared with 400Mb/s for urban users in China.

Chinese are natural in hard science. I mean HARD SCIENCE, not some software engineers that spent most of the time making widgets online or moving data around. The Chinese are doing hard science in AI and hardware. And AI and Hardware are coming together into AI Robotics. And the Chinese EXCEL in it. Soon you will see armies of AI Robotics handling all factories in the whole manufacturing ecosystem.

the US better get used to a multi polar world. Not only China...but India is emerging as a global economic powerhouse. We need to stop the Globalist shenanigan (regime change wars) and learn to cooperate. To compete...we need to recapture our work ethic and "can do" attitude.
