China is on par with the US in AI in terms of investment, there is still some catch up to do for China in the academia, but overall, the world has only two players in the so called fourth industrial revolution.

Out of 100 AI experts 80 are American, but 60 of the 80 are Chinese Americans.

But many people ignored that Kai-fu Lee was a typical American hatched talent and scientist but he finally moved back to China to boost Chinese technology. Is it a lost of US or a gain of China? I don't think he base his career in China because he loves China but more opportunities and market for him to take advantage of. US should learn a lesson how to keep such talents.

Chinese engineers are the wolfs in the dark forest. Huawei is the largest den of wolfs. They have a totally same target --- food. They will attain their food by hook or by crook.

一日复一日依然如故?

on top of that I believe AI is more racial bias since most of the developers are Asians

Apologies to the younger generations for what they will be living in, only few years from now..
we should have planned differently this world, a future where chinese working "ethics" are the norm, is a inhumane, 18th century world...We were lucky to have lived in the west during the best and last years of a "good life".with all our messing up we still had a world to explore, dreams to realize and ideals to apply.Money was just a means to an end, and the end was for some of us predefined .it was a world with peace, equality for all, food for all, safety and without greed and violence. It seemed possible then..we were still young.
So my surprise is that the young today have no such ideals seem to only care for the survival, under any circumstances...as long as they dont have to fight for real for rights, freedom or anything like this...as long as it is fighting with their fellow humans for a place in the production lines of the greedy few who have found the "promised dream" as a means to keep people under their control..
Chinese youth is conditioned in ways the west cant start to coprehend. The deep distortion of values since childhood, the reality of chinese society (where the concept of queeing doesnt exist , you dont wait there, they are too many to be polite)..
So if this is the society you dream of, i just hope i die soon enough to not have to live through the torture of watching you finding out the truth about your "dream"..

I live in China now and china really is unable to innovate. The hard work ethic is a myth and overly exaggerated so I do not know what he is refering to.
