Alec Baldwin Faces Hard Evidence as Prosecutors Accuse Him of Lying — 'Rust' Trial Day 2

The Alec Baldwin trial continued Thursday with more testimony from crime scene technician Marissa Poppell. Poppell continued to reveal her findings from the investigation into the live ammunition that ended up on the set of "Rust" and in Baldwin's prop gun. During her testimony, things became tense and Baldwin shook his head in disagreement, later leaving the courtroom. Gun manufacturer Alessandra Pieta took the stand and revealed the gun used in the “Rust” film can only be fired by pulling the trigger, which Baldwin denies doing.

Baldwin’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 18 months in prison. A judge will rule on these issues after hearing motions from the prosecution and Baldwin’s defense. Baldwin was indicted on one count of involuntary manslaughter in January for the death of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

For those who don't know. Starline Brass is a manufacturer of reloading brass. They don't make live or blank ammunition.

ATTENTION Judge Boise… THIS is how you present a trial to the public. This is how transparency is achieved.

This case is ridiculous as well as these rude prosecutors and their combative witness!😅

Please tell me I’m NOT the only person in the world who thinks the crime-scene tech (Ms Poppel?) looks eerily like Philip Seymour Hoffman? 😮

Love the 3-frame version of this broadcast. I wish all the channels did this for every case.

Kari Morrissey is a piece of work, I understand her role in trying to make the jury find doubt against Alec Baldwin. However she is frustrating me to bits with her attitude and demanding demeanour! Even the judge was over it towards the end.

He is an actor. Not a props person or security personnel. This was a tragic event but he DID NOT DELIBERATELY kill that woman. How was he to know there was live ammo in that gun?? And WHY was there live ammo in a prop gun? These charges and this trial are ridiculous. Personally, I would have checked only because I have had training in the handling of arms. I would not expect an actor to do so, let alone charge him with this crime. Please, let’s go after the real criminals.

This defense attorney did a great job. Fascinating to watch him put everything together.

Why are the cops hiding details about the Seth Kenny investigation?

The CST should be ashamed about her obvious failure to do her job.

I don't care what y'all say I am standing behind Baldwin, because I don't want to stand in front of him.

2:16:46 Why do investigators smile and smirk? There’s nothing funny about her botched investigation.

Does Poppell have a natural smirk on her face or is she just being disrespectful?

I’ve testified in criminal court hundreds of times. My take so far is that the defense is doing a better job than the prosecution. The defense also has a lot going for it. Film sets are not like any other work or home environment where there are guns. Actors are not expected to have expertise or even knowledge of guns or gun safety (some do but most don’t). That is why armorers are not required at homes or other places of business where guns are located, but they are required to be on film sets. The burden of gun safety is on the armorer; no one else. When I’m on a film set, I always check the gun(s) involved in a scene I’m in. But that is me. Every actor or crew member can’t be expected to do that because they don’t know anything about guns. When the armorer failed in her duties in this case, she, and she alone is responsible of the tragedy that took place. She should have received a much longer prison term.

When people (jurors) realize the difference between the make believe on a movie set and the rest of the world, it is clear that Alec Baldwin should not have even been charged. He may be a jack-wad in real life, but that is not justification for prosecuting him.
