The start of the show is the whole company going ‘GOOD NEWS, SHE’S DEAD’ which was a bit awkward 😬

I can imagine how awkward and uncomfortable it must have been for the cast to belch out the first line, "GOOD NEEEW, SHE'S DEAAAD!!!" right after THAT announcment.

Not the first words of the show being 'GOOD NEEEWS, SHE'S DEAAAD' I feel so bad for the poor cast who had to go out and sing that

They really went from “the queen has passed away, please be respectful” to “GOOD NEWSSSS, SHE’S

Funny thing is the queen probably would have found it hilarious to hear the first line of the show after this announcement, she famously had a great sense of humour

the gasps of the people who found out this way

There are two types of people: "Her Majesty the Queen has sadly passed away." and "GOOD NEWS, SHE'S DEEEAAAAD!"

I'm honestly shocked at all the comments saying the show should have been cancelled, especially considering how ridiculous things got here in the UK. Nothing should be cancelled because of the queen's death, it's OK to be sad about it, but you can't just cancel everything that's fun.

Man: "The Queen has died. There will be a minute of silence after the curtain call. We will perform the show as written."
Me: "I mean yeah, why would they change any of the... oh shoot."
Cast: "GOOD NEEWWS! SHE'S DEEAAD!!!"
Queen: has a good chuckle in heaven about the situation

This is just like the beginning of the musical _Evita, _ when the theater manager interrupts the movie to announce that the First Lady of Argentina has "entered immortality." Incidentally, the real Evita was snubbed by the Queen Mum and King George VI (Elizabeth's parents) when they refused to receive her at Buckingham Palace during her Rainbow Tour of Europe in 1947. Also, both Evita and George died in 1952, within months of each other.

I couldn’t think of a most awkward and least appropriate place to announce the death of their dear monarch than right before Wicked starts, where the first lyrics of the entire musical start with “GOOOODDD NEWWSSSS! SHE’S

I’m pretty sure where the person who filmed this was sitting might very well possibly be where I was sitting all those years ago when I watched Wicked. So, it’s like I’m seeing what I saw right before the show started, adrenaline of getting the privilege to just BE in the theatre (I don’t live in London), so that brings back huge waves of nostalgia of one of the jolliest moments of my adolescence- but the only thing that is different is that an incredibly important figure just died.

First line of the show: GOOD NEEEWS, SHE"S DEAAAD!!

That must've been an awkward first couple of minutes
