Wicked - Dancing Through Life: Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) introduces his beliefs to his new classmates.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, stars Emmy, Grammy and Tony winning powerhouse Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Broadway's The Color Purple) as Elphaba, a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and global superstar Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart. The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda's unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba's determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences on her future. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Should Jonathan Bailey have been nominated for an Oscar?

This version is SO energized. The choreography is electric, Jonathan Bailey's performance is top tier, and the set design for this number (and truly the whole film) is out of this world! One of my favorite moments from the movie!

I like the detail that Glinda kept having to get within Fiyero’s view to be relevant to him. I like how he saw everybody equally and dance with them equally, Giving them his time equally

I don't care what anyone says. This was hands down the best part of the entire movie. They threw everything they had into it!

Idk what’s the most impressive part of this number
A. The choreography
B. The mesmerizing cinematography
C. The fact the only CGI in that scene is the sky outside
This movie was a love letter to the play

I’m shocked at people who claim Fiyero isn’t a well-developed character. This is one of the best character songs in Broadway history that fleshes out who Fiyero is so well. He’s a prince, born into the very system that is causing so many injustices. He’s grown up around people who don’t care about the world’s problems as long as they themselves benefit from them. “Dancing through life” is Fiyero’s coping mechanism. His strong inherent conscience is at odds with how he has been raised. He’s not supposed to care. “If nobody cares, why should I?” is his mindset, and it’s an understandable one. But then Elphaba brings out his real self, particularly his natural instinct to help others. She shows him that fighting for what he believes in is more important than keeping a privileged place in society, and thus he ultimately chooses to follow his heart rather than others’ expectations.

I love when they cast people in movie musicals who are professionally trained dancers and vocalists and CLEARLY so

What's your preference?
Fiyero: Yes

I love that a song about not trying too hard and taking things easy has probably the most demanding and rigorously-rehearsed choreography in the entire film!

The result is amazing, but a lot of the actors must have absolutely HATED this song by the time they perfected it.

Fiyero's choreography totally recalls the Scarecrow's in "If I Only Had a Brain"!

I'm actually a little miffed. I worked in academic libraries for years and never had a hot guy in tight pants and a leather jacket cartwheel around the place.

‘Nothing matters and knowing nothing matters’ is one of my favourite lines from this song

Such a happy song about someone with depression having a existential/life crisis 😂

I love how someone had the brilliant idea to have the circular bookshelves line the ladders up in a Z so that they and the window would come out to spell Oz

Edit: It didn't happen, guys. I thought I saw it in the theater, and it stuck in my mind. But once the video came out, I watched it a few more times and realized it didn't. Sorry.

Edit 2: GOOD NEWS it actually did happen!

Knowing who Fiyero turns into in Part II (iykyk) makes this an even more incredible performance. You can tell Jonathan Bailey really studied the original actor's portrayal of this character and embodied that iconic energy so well.

Firyero’s choreography with the books was all him. No CGI or green screen. Amazing.

I never realized Jonathan could dance like that! His body must be super flexible to move like that.
